Pros: Great build quality, good feel in your hand, self-cleaning sensor, and live preview.
Cons: Important functions buried within menus, Ergonomics, slightly less mega-pixels than competition.

Excellent review. I should note that you CAN use autofocus in LiveView though. You can enable this feature in a Custom Function sub menu, then just push the AF ON button to have the camera autofocus in LiveView.
Now surpassed by the 50D, the 40D still holds its own very well and is an awful lot of camera for the money.
