| jetbluefan1's Full Review: Capone's Dinner And Show |
It was a beautiful night in the Orlando, Florida area and we decided to ditch Disney World early for Capones. We found a brochure at the Orange Lake Resort and Country Club (where we were staying) which came with a 50% off coupon. This coupon was valid for the amount of adults that were attending in our party. There was also a Buy One Get One Free coupon, and a 50% off coupon for kids 4-12. Children three and under are free.
Getting There
We got on HWY. 192 from Orange County. That took us past the Disney parks into the town on Celebration. From there, we went to marker 11 which is the closest marker to Capones and it was located on the right. The exact location is on 4740 West Highway 192, Kissimmee, Florida.
Line
When turning in the lot, we were greeted with a line outside the door which had about 70 people in it. There was a line outside because many people still hadnt purchased their tickets (like us). However, we were entertained with jokes from the actors and actresses. Some of the jokes were inappropriate for the kids, but were still very funny. They also didnt pass up the photo opportunity.
Entering
About 20 minutes later, we entered and bought our tickets at half price. They also gave us a password that we would need to get into the show which was behind that door over there. We knocked three times, and we heard an annoying voice from the bimbo who said, What do ya want? Go away! This was a part of the act...we told her the password, and what-do-ya-know? It was correct! There, we held a slate with a couple numbers on it and on the bottom it said Chicago Police Department. Later on in the show, we figured out it was a fake jail picture!
Dining
We were seated by one of the show girls on the lower level when the waiter came. He made comments on how he was considered a hunk of man and how all the 1930 ladies were after him. He was hilarious! He told us about what we could get to eat, and that he would bring us our drinks. He commented about how to use the restroom (but didnt go into much detail, thankfully). The staff members are a big part of the act since they added to the theme of a 1930 scene of downtown Chicago.
After getting ourselves situated, we went to the buffet which was a mix of American and Italian foods. There was spaghetti, ham, lasagna, ziti, sausage, salad, crispy chicken tenders, garlic bread, and vegetables. Drinks included soda, beer, wine, and a special Capones alcoholic beverage. The food was delicious, well cooked and very filling. The selection was adequate and we didnt have to wait in the buffet line too long to get our food. For dessert we were served a piece of cake with whipped creme, hot chocolate syrup, and of course - the cherry on top.
Show
The show started on the stage in front of us with dancing and singing. The story is about a bunch of people living in Chicago back in the 1930s. Mobsters and dames danced a spectacular dance and acted a well thought-out script of living in the hood. Bunny, the lead actress has a handsome mobster as her boyfriend and they eventually get married. Bunny is very happy throughout the play as she is about to perform her Chicago Illinois debut for everyone, until she gets kidnapped by several gang members. Detective Marvel and Miss Jewel fall in love, and theres singing and dancing by the two show girls when they fall in love. Miss Jewel is the main narrator and actress who is hosting the World Famous Gangland Revue.
The story is very funny with many jokes, dancing, and singing. The actors all play different characters and the script is well thought out. The songs they come up with are not ones that you may hear on the radio, and it really does feel like you are in downtown Chicago with the mobsters and show girls. There was one scene were a mobster pulls out a gun after kidnapping Bunny and points it at Detective Marvel who is on the investigation of Bunny June.
Conclusion
All-in-all, we had a good night and enjoyed the jokes, acting, songs and dancers. The story was well acted with a lot of action and things to keep us interested. The food was delicious and there was quite a variety. It was very convenient to the resort we were staying in, also. I would probably see it again since I heard that they do make changes to the script a lot, and I can never get enough of their funny words.
