Pros: Clean ship, nice room size.
Cons: Not relaxing, too many "extras" that can rob you blind.
The Bottom Line: It will cost you more then staying at a resort no matter how cheap it appears to be.

| geoffm24's Full Review: Celebrity Infinity |
My wife and I sailed out of San Juan in Oct 2001 for our honeymoon. We sailed on the infinity shortly after it was built.
This was our first cruise so we weren't sure exactly what to expect.
Check in and dropping off the bags went pretty smooth. Celebrity obviously has this routine down. It took very little time from dropping off our luggage to getting our IDs made to boarding the ship.
We found our room to be very nice with a decent sized balcony. I knew cruise ship rooms were small but these were fine.
So why didn't we love it? Well there were a number of reasons.
First off there are a lot of people on these ships, which we were well aware of prior to booking the trip. The problem I had is that you really can't "get away". The hot tubs are full of people, the pools are full, the dinner line is full, the hallways are full etc. etc. Sorting through waves of people isn't my idea of relaxing.
The second thing we didn't care for was the dining. Now I wear suits to work everyday so the idea of having to dress up on vacation is not very appealing. It just becomes painful to sit though 2 hour dinners EVERY NIGHT. Once a month, OK.
The third thing was the food quality. Everyone always talks about the food on cruises. Yes there was a lot of food but I didn't find it to be all that great. No meal I ever had could begin to compete with fine dining at any decent restaurant in the Northeast. I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and I would take ANY buffet I had there over the cruise food anyday. It is banquet food, wedding and prom meals are never great and neither is cruise food IMO.
The fourth thing was the timetables. Part of this is our fault but you feel like you are missing out if you don't see every island and do some sort of excursion. This gets tiring and expensive. You end up worn out after a week, not relaxed.
The fifth thing was the need for a watch. The is a big vacation pet peeve of mine. There is always a diner or boarding or excursion or sign up that you need to check your watch for. No thanks.
The sixth thing is the constant attempts to suck every penny out of your wallet. From closed circuit TV that is CONSTANTLY recommending this shop or that shop (I'm SURE Celebrity gets kick backs), or Art for sale. or excursions, or $6 drinks, or tips, or gambling, or spa treatments. I met people who had spent as much as $1000 extra per person.
We just found the whole trip to be more tiring and annoying then relaxing. We will take a nice beachfront resort on an island any day over a cruise. The resort will cost you less and you can wake up when you want and leave the watch at home.
