| kld718's Full Review: Cepacol Extra Strength Instant Relief Sore Throat ... |
When I moved back to Florida a little over 3 weeks ago now I had no idea what I was in for. But it was rainy and turning cold when we left and my sinuses immediately went into a tailspin when I entered the heat of the southern states. About four days after getting back into Florida, I came down with a terrible sore throat. I knew it wasnt long before the change of weather would leave me with a terrible cold.
So I rooted around in a few boxes until I discovered my Cepacol Extra Strength Sore Throat Lozenges. While in the colder weather of Pennsylvania, I had come to rely on Cepacol over any other brand because I always had good results. I usually use their Cepacol Sore Throat Spray and achieve great results. But I just didnt have any left and really didnt feel like running to the store.
I sucked on a few of these cherry lozenges for the night and prayed that I wouldnt wake up worse in the morning. Apparently no one was listening to my prayers that night. I woke up in the morning with a terrible sore throat, a hacking cough, runny nose, heavy chest, and extreme headache. I sucked on these lozenges for the rest of the day and waited until my mother brought home some cold medicine.
These lozenges come in a small box like most over the counter medicines do. I buy the cherry flavor because it actually does taste like cherry and I am actually afraid to try any other type. One box holds 18 lozenges and they do last a long time despite the small amount. The lozenges themselves come package like in those aluminum type blister packs where you punch out the lozenges as you use them.

cetylpyridinium chloride, D&C red no. 33, FD&C red no. 40, flavor, glucose, simethicone, sucrose.
These Cepacol Sore Throat Lozenges state that they provide instant relief. I really dont know about the instant part, but I really do prefer these over most cough drops. The regular Halls just seem to taste to medicinal for me and the Halls Fruit Breezers taste more like candy even though they do help to ease throat pain. These Cepacol drops work for me because they actually numb my throat so that I cannot feel the pain.
I purchased these lozenges at Rite Aid on sale for $2.99. Thats a pretty hefty price to pay for 18 lozenges, but I feel that they are definitely worth the price paid because they work well. You can also purchase these online at Drugstore.com and CVS.com. Though you will pay a bit more for them if they are not on sale.
Please note that these lozenges are not supposed to totally relieve the pain, they are for temporary relief. If your sore throat pain persists longer than a few days, you should consult your doctor. Unfortunately, I dont yet have a doctor in Florida, so I had no one to ask and continued to use these off and on with Halls for over a week. Bad me! You really shouldnt pop these things like candy one after the other either. It is recommended that one be used every 2 hours.
Overall, I have to recommend these due to the fact that they performed as they should. These lozenges temporary relieved my sore throat pain and I was able to prevent my voice from leaving me this time around.
