Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
A Charlie Brown Christmas has been around for many years and has entertained alot of families. I think this is a good holiday show for children because it reminds them of the spirit of Christmas. It reminds them that Christmas isn't just about receiving it's about giving as well.
So...what is this show about?
Charlie Brown is trying to figure out the meaning of Christmas. At first, Charlie Brown is upset because nobody sent him a Christmas card. He said he didn't need a holiday to emphasize that nobody liked him.
He decided to get help. He went to Lucy the psychiatrist for 5 cents. He complained that he was in sad shape and felt really depressed. Lucy told him they needed to pin-point his fears. They came to the conclusion that he had a fear of everything and he needed involvement. Lucy suggested that he be the director of their Christmas play. They had everything but lacked a director.
So, back at the stage Lucy told them she had a new director. She told them it was Charlie Brown. Everyone thought it would be the worst Christmas play ever with Charlie Brown directing. (Even Snoopy.)
When Charlie Brown arrived they assigned character names to everyone.
Freida *innkeeper's wife
Pig Pen *innkeeper
Shermie *Shepherd
Snoopy *All the characters in the play. (cow, sheep, penguin)
Linus *Christmas Shepherd
Sally *The wife of Linus
The cast was set. They started rehearsing. Charlie Brown didn't like how the play was going so they told him to get a Christmas tree. They told Charlie Brown to do something right for a change.
Charlie Brown arrived with the scraggliest tree their was. They scolded him for it. (Boy are you stupid Charlie Brown~! I told you to get a good tree. Don't you know the difference between a good tree and a bad tree? What kind of tree is that? I told you he would goof it up. You've been dumb before Charlie Brown but this time you really did it!)
Charlie Brown stood up in fusteration and shouted...Isn't their anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?
Linus then took the stage and told the Christmas story.
And in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them and the glory of the Lord shown around them; and they were terribly frightened. And the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold I bring you good news which shall be for all people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, and lying in a manger. And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among men.
That's what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown.
Charlie Brown then proceeded to take the tree home to decorate it. His attempt failed.
Later that evening Linus supported the tree with his blanket. He wrapped it around the trunk of the tree and the cast dressed up the tree with the lights in Snoopy's doghouse. The tree was beautiful. It reminded me of the story...The Ugly Duckling...Just a little time and love can turn something into a beauty.
The show went off with the song Hark The Herald. Everyone was standing around the tree singing. They no longer thought bad of Charlie Brown. It had a happy ending.
