| LILvoyce's Full Review: Chuckles Jelly Candy 24 Bars Of 2 Oz Each |
I also remember my mother would bring Chuckles home from the IGA grocery store as I grew up. She loved them. I enjoyed them just as much growing up. Chuckles are made by the Farley's and Sathers Company.
While ever so popular this candy was then, they are so hard to find now. You can purchase them in singles and I have found them online by the case at "The Candy Warehouse," for under $20 for a case of 24 packages. Each package contains 2oz of candy.
Description
Chuckles come on a cardboard card, and you get each of the following flavors in each pack: lime, lemon, cherry, orange, and licorice. They are Jelly Candies that have been covered in Sugar. These candies are fat-free.
My Thoughts
Chuckles actually remind me of huge gum drops that have been flattened and packaged. When fresh they are so soft and have a sugary topping that does crunch just a bit.
The cherry and the licorice ones are my favorite. The licorice has that old fashioned black licorice flavoring to it. It is pretty strong and will take your breath away if your not used to that spicy flavor. The cherry has a nice flavor to it very mild. The lemon is not tart, and very sweet, the lime taste sort of weird but edible, and the orange reminds me of those orange sliced candies only softer. None of these candies leave weird after taste like I have experienced with other gummy types of candies.
I love these candies because they are so soft and gummy. They are not to fancy, just something to curb your sugar craving, and possibly give you a sugar high. They contain way to many carbs. I eat these sparingly. They are very colorful and easy to work with that you could use them to make other types of goodies. They hold up well as used for decorating other sweet treats.
Although these candies contain a lot of sugar they are fat-free, and that is a good thing.
Be sure to get them fresh because they will harden over time. They are still edible and don't lose their flavor, but I prefer them fresh.
Overall
Chuckles are pleasant and be compared to gumdrops in consistency and flavor. They will curb your sweet tooth if you like these fruity and licorice type flavors. I recommend them.
