I only wish that this restaurant had longer hours! Citizen Cake made a good move in opening up only a block from Hayes St. on Gough St. The menu exudes decadence and the food is an absolute delight! The coffee cake and pastries are mouth watering. The apple french toast tastes like heaven. But the prices are a bit steep for the lack of food on the plate. The restaurants decor is loft like and very hip and trendy. You can either sit down for a meal or grab some muffins, cookies, or cake at the counter where they are displayed in a glass case so you can oogle them. Reservations are not needed and I am guessing the lines will get longer once people catch on that it is there, since it is relatively new. If the vegetarians like pastries then it is vegetarian friendly. I am a vegetarian and I liked the food. If you aren't on a diet then this is the place for you!
