Pros: Expiration date printed on tube. It did not cause spontaneous combustion.
Cons: Smells bad, irritating, didn't clear up my zit.
The Bottom Line: There are better products than Clearasil Vanishing Cream

Uh-oh! Here we go again! I have a great, big, itchy, painful, subterranean pimple in the usual spot on the side of my chin, which appeared 2 days ago. I was out of my regular treatment, Origins Spot Remover, and to top it all off, I had (and still have) a stomach virus, so I was not about to go all the way out to an Origins counter to get more. I was feeling very sorry for myself!
I had some left over Clearasil Vanishing Cream, which won't expire until Jan. 2002 (its nice they put an expiration date on it), so I figured I might as well use it. I realized that I did not like it when I got it several months ago, but I figured I have nothing to lose.
The instructions on the package say to apply a thin layer after cleansing the area. I have now been using it for 2 days now, with no zit shrinkage. If anything, my zit is a little bigger, and I should mention the area I applied the cream is irritated. The package says I should use the product 3 times a day, I have not done this, because of the irritation, I used it twice a day. Maybe it would work better if I used it that one extra time.
Like every product I remember which has benzoyl peroxide for the active ingredient, this product smells bad! If I was not stuck inside, alone I would be concerned that other people could smell the product on me. In fairness to the product, I am hypersensitive to smells, whenever someone at work thinks they smell something out of the ordinary they call me to confirm it. This has a chemical, acrid fragrance, and I wonder why they can't do anything to make it less unpleasant.
So, let's see, it irritates my skin, it does not clear up my blemish, and it smells bad, not exactly a glowing recommendation. I really don't know who can benefit from the product, I have sensitive, combination skin and I did not do at all well. Maybe someone with oily all over skin would do better. I am tempted to put this product on my hate list, but I am sick and irritable, so that seems unfair. Let's just say there are much better products, like the aforementioned Origins' Spot Remover, on the market.

About Me: A patient asked if I ever have problems.
"Do physicians ever get sick?" I replied.
