ozawa's Full Review: Colgate Palmolive Shaving Cream 11 oz
Colgate Regular Shave Cream offers decent shaving performance at a low price. When I first tried it a few years ago, I was really surprised at just how good it was despite being sold in big 14.75-ounce cans at our local dollar store. For a couple of years, in fact, it was my favorite shaving cream.
Colgate Regular provides better-than-average shaving closeness--not quite as close as Barbasol Beard Buster Original, but closer than Gillette Foamy Regular and closer than any shaving gel that I have tried.
The best virtues of Colgate Regular are that it provides good protection against nicks, cuts, and irritation, and ample "glide" for the razor. It makes shaving really easy and carefree, even against the grain.
Following my shaves with Colgate Regular, I am left with soft, smooth, well-conditioned skin. There is minimal razor burn to speak of.
Colgate Regular has a muted, neutral, clean fragrance that I find appealing. I detect notes of Ivory soap, lilac, and vanilla in the scent. The fragrance fades away fast, and I don't think it would clash with any after shave or cologne.
The only weakness I've discovered with this product is that the shaves aren't as long lasting as I would like. After about six hours, stubble becomes annoyingly evident. I get much longer lasting shaves using the various Barbasol shaving creams.
All in all, Colgate Regular Shave cream offers a satisfactory shave and makes shaving quick and easy. If you value shaving ease first and foremost, this could be just what you're looking for.
