| NetDanzr's Full Review: Comfort Inn And Suites City Centre |
The Indianapolis Comfort Inn offers a very relaxing atmosphere, great location and very friendly staff, but youll have to pay extra for all this.
Location, location, location
The greatest advantage of the hotel is its location. It is within walking distance from the city center, but still far enough to be isolated from all the traffic and noise. Comfort Inn is located two blocks from the Slippery Noodle, a cult watering hole, which lies on the edge of the citys club district. Five minutes of additional walking would get you to the Center Circle Mall, and ten minutes to the Monument Circle in the middle of the city. As such, if you arrive between Thursday and Saturday and feel like partying, the hotel is perfectly situated for your needs.
The hotels location is also very safe. Just across the street is the main Indiana post office, and because of this there are police cars patrolling the area all the time. In fact, Ive noticed one car circling around the post office and the hotel all night long. As such, I felt comfortable with leaving most of my luggage in my car overnight.
Finally, the hotel is very well located in relation to the major highways. Both I-65 and I-70 are accessible by car in less than five minutes, and especially if you travel north or west, youll be able to avoid the city center once you leave. The Greyhound and train stations are both only a block away, so if you are planning on using either service, Comfort Inn is the perfect hotel for you.
The room and stuff
The rooms are the standard fare; very clean but relatively crowded with two beds. In addition, the hotel offers an in-door swimming pool and bubble bath, and an exercise room. Breakfast is served in the lobby, and the selection is relatively large, both in various offerings and quantity. Unfortunately, when the hotel is full, it gets really crowded there and the amount of tables is grossly insufficient.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Whenever we needed any information, such as where to find a movie theater playing non-Hollywood production or how to get to a certain restaurant, the staff always printed out the information and a map for us, and also checked the driving directions (the printouts were from the notoriously imprecise Mapquest) and gave us their own suggestions for a better route.
Dude, where is my money?
For all the great service and amenities, I found the hotel a little on the pricey side. At $95 for a double for two people, it actually matches the price of some respectable hotels in larger cities. Considering that ten minutes driving would save us $60, I didnt find the price justified.
In addition to the price, I was also unhappy to find no refrigerator in the room. While I dont expect a fridge in cheap motels, every room at the Comfort Inn should have one, especially since the hotel is trying to cater to families with children.
How deep is your purse?
Despite the lack of a fridge, I really enjoyed my stay in the hotel. Still, next time Im Indianapolis, I will look for something cheaper, even though it farther from the center. However, if you think you can afford a $106.40 night (theres a 12% hotel tax in Indiana), I can only recommend the Comfort Inn.
