| yrless11's Full Review: Comfortaire Cerulean Mattress |
I purchased the cerulean HP in a queen size after returning a select comfort bed (read my reveiw Select Comfort Sleepnumber 7000). I had not researched air mattresses much before getting the select comfort, as a friend of mine had and highly recommended the select comfort. I did a bit of research and found that the Comfortaire beds came highly recommended for the price and also nationwidemattress.com as a retailer of them. I had great luck with nationwide as they did a pm and the mattress was delivered exactly when estimated from them.
The matress arrived in 2 boxes. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. I had the mattress all set up in a matter of about 20 minutes (vs. 1.5 hours for selectcomfort).
Edit (add more info on setup):
This mattress is very easy to setup. Basically there is a mattress cover, in my case, 2 air bladders, a pump and controls. You leave your existing or new foundation on your bed and place the mattress cover on it with the top zipped off. There are some foam sidewalls that go around the inside of the mattress cover for stability. You put these in place and then set the bladders in. There is a hose from each bladder that feeds through the mattress and connects to the pump. Hook these up plug in the pump and hook the controls to the pump...you're ready to fill up the bladders. You can only do 1 bladder at a time, but they take only a minute or two to fill up. Once both bladders are filled with air, place the foam layer on top and zip on the mattress cover top. You're all set to add your bedding, which if normal sizing should fit.
The parts are good quality imo...The pump, albeit a bit noisier than the selectcomoft pump, is nice as it uses a standard power cord that you can get from any computer store. The controls use standard phone line cables, so if for some reason you hit them with the vacuum or need to extend them, you can replace them easily. I have had 2 issues with the parts though. The first pump stopped working in about a week. I would guess that because this is the first run of the 'whisper' pumps that there is going to be a few problems. I called comfortaire and they sent a new one overnight. Also, one of the air chambers had a slow leak which I didn't detect at first due to the faulty pump, but I had suspected a leak. Again, I called comfortaire and they sent a new one only ground this time (not as big a deal as it was a slow leak). In both cases I did run through the troubleshooting techniques in the owner's manual as comfortaire will ask you these same questions.
Edit (add warranty info since I did have some issues)
This bed comes with a 20 year manufacturer warranty against defects and a 90 day/night 100% refund policy if you are unsatisfied for any reason. You do have to pay return shipping costs if you decide to return the bed, approx $75-100.
The bed is very comfortable and my wife's back pains have gone away since we started using it. The adjustability is infinite (ie it is a manual adjust that can go from flat to full, adjust to your liking)so you should be able to find a setting suitable to your needs. I don't have the digital control, but that would be a nice option, although not sure it's worth the money. The one thing I would consider is purchasing a king size vs. a queen. With the dual chamber, I have noticed that the person on the side that is inflated more than the other side will tend to roll towards the middle/other side. I think with a king size bed you would have a little bigger air chamber and not notice this as much.
