This medicine is the best I have taken for a sore throat. Let me tell you how I came to try this medicine.
I work the overnight shift at a telemarketing firm and towards the end of my shift I noticed my throat was getting sore. I got off work at 7am and I was going out with a friend at noon, so I was p!ssed. I couldn't get sick because I promised my friend I would take her to see this movie. If I called her and canceled she would probably kick my a**.
So when I got off work, I went to the drug store and started to look for something to take. I had already tried most of the flu/cold meds they had and most of them don't work that well. I was really looking for something that would help just my throat. That was the only thing bothering me, so why would I need something for a congested chest or body aches. I was about to give up and just stand the pain when I saw this medication. This was really to only one I saw that was just for sore throat.
I also liked the fact that it said Honey flavored. I bought it and I went home to take a quick nap before going out. I was going to take some of the syrup when I got home, but I forgot it in the car. I didn't feel like going out to my car, so I took a double dose of Nyquil and I knocked out.
I wake up for my nap and I get ready to go out. I get in the car and take a big gulp of the Comtrex stuff. It was so nasty. They must have forgot to put the honey in this one because, it was so horrible. But I did notice right away my throat did not hurt anymore. It was instant relief, which I loved. I mean who wants to wait 30 minutes for the medicine to take effect.
So me and my friend go eat lunch. We got to the movies about an hour and half since I took the Comtrex, and I started to notice my throat was beginning hurt again. So I took a gulp and BAM instant relief. The movie we were going to see was 2 hours long do I brought the Comtrex in the movies with me. Every ten minutes or so I would take a little sip.
It bottle was gone the next morning. I really did take more that the recommended dose, but not enough to hurt me (I'm in nursing school and I asked my teacher).
Compared to other medicines this one is the best. It works right away. The only bad things about it is the horrid taste and the fact that the relief only last about an hour and a half. I did not experience any side effects with this and I will buy it the next time I have a sore throat.
