I received this highchair as a baby shower gift from my grandmother. I used it because we had very little money and I could not afford to replace it.
The chair is very basic, it has a very narrow aluminum base, a vinyl seat cover, plastic seat and a white plastic tray with three distance settings (for growth). It also has a seatbelt and a foot rest. My son started using this seat when he was 6 months old and I found that it was difficult to feed him at times because it did not adjust, the seat always was too high for me (I am 5'3). As my son aged, he got more active.
When he was about a year old he was "Mr. Independent", he wanted to climb into his highchair himself, but I did not feel comfortable letting him without me standing behind him because his weight was too much and he would sometimes tip it (he was in the 50th percentile for weight). He would also rock back and forth and he could get two of the four legs off of the floor.
When he was about 18 months he figured out that by pushing on the tray he could push the tray off of the chair, onto the floor and he would either escape or if he was wearing the belt he would lean over so far that he once toppled the chair. This is when we put the chair in storage and bought him a booster chair to sit with us at the grown up table. This chair was good for the first year, but as soon as my son was upward mobile it did more harm than good.
