Words can barely describe the food at Dali's. The tapas that are served here are miniature works of art!
Dali's is one of only a few restaurants in the Boston area that serve authentic Spanish tapas, which are small appetizer portions of dishes. It is great to go with a bunch of people and order many different tapas to share. But even if there are only two of you, you can get a wide selection of dishes and not break your wallet.
Dali's serves many entrees, but I have never had one - and I am sure that 80% of the people who go there have never had one either - the tapas are why everyone is here.
The cold tapas that I recommend are the fresh anchovies (nothing like what comes out of a can), the tortilla (a big egg and potato omelet-type thing), and olives. For hot tapas there is the garlic shrimp (just shrimp served in still bubbling oil with garlic), pork tenderloin with blue goat cheese, goat cheese and tomato sauce, squid in it's own ink (for the adventurous) and salmon balls. They serve a big basket of bread with your meal, so you can dip it in all the wonderful sauces that come with the tapas. There are about 30-40 tapas to choose from, including many choices for vegetarians.
The atmosphere is pretty crazy here - the walls are decorated with Spanish tiles, copper pots, and other spanish art. The place gets very crowded - last time I went was on a saturday and there was an hour and a half wait at 6:00, so get there early or expect to wait. Luckily they have a great bar with a really good wine selection and yummy Sangria to tide you over. And if you are with a group of people, I suggest getting a Piron (not sure of the spelling) with is a pitcher of Sangria in a special bottle that you pass around and pour into your mouth - it's great fun!
Dali's also has a sister restaurant on Newbury St. called Tapeo. They have the same exact menu and usually have less of a wait. Though it is on Newbury St. and lacks much of the authentic Spanish charm that makes Dali's so wonderful.
