| robanom's Full Review: Dell Latitude X200 PC Notebook |
This is a great Laptop for people who are going to be traveling a lot. It is powerful enough to do most travel needs such as email and reports... The Intel 800 Mhz processor is the smallest processor available in the unit, but offers the longest battery life ~3 Hours. I would recommend putting 512MB RAM in the computer regardless of Operating System. I am currently running Windows 2000 Professional Workstation. The system has handled everything I could throw at it; I typically have over 20 windows open at a time without any slowdown or crashing. The integrated wireless option was a great asset; since my company has a wireless infrastructure I don't have to worry about cable dangling around when I need to go to a meeting or on-site.
The system came pre-loaded with some software:
· Norton Anti-virus (90 Day Trial)
· Music Jukebox
· WinDVD
· Dell System Management MMC
· Office 2000 Small Business
· Roxio Easy CD Creator Platinum
Software I Added includes:
· Microsoft Visual Basic 6 Enterprise
· Microsoft Visual Source Safe
· GroupWise 6 (Email Client)
· Microsofts MSDN Library
· Adobe Photoshop 6
· Corel Draw 8
The system has proven to be reliable and practical while traveling through extreme conditions. The x200 has an impressive highlights list:
· 2.9lbs and 0.8" thin
· 12.1" XGA LCD
· Ultra Low Voltage Pentium III-M 800 MHz CPU
· Up to 640MB PC133 SDRAM
· Fully Integrated Wireless
· 18.5 mm key spacing and 2.4 mm key travel
· Magnesium Alloy Chassis
As a programmer and have been using laptops for years, I can honestly say that I am extremely happy with the Latitude X200. Since it is a Dell you get great customer service 24/7 from trained support people. Dell stands behind their products with a great 3-year 24hr onsite warranty.
