Let me begin by saying that Drake produces one product… bindings. By focusing on one type of product it is hard for them to go wrong. Their entire line of bindings has a large range of models from beginner to pro, and all of which are of excellent quality and bang for their buck. I purchased the `99/`00 season model F-50’s for their value, quality and stylish good looks.
Not only do the F-50’s look incredibly sweet with their aluminum and Forma construction, they outperformed any other binding that I have used. They are lightweight, durable, easy to adjust, and they are very responsive. The tool-less forward lean adjuster and Phillips head screwdriver adjustments make slope-side tweaks to your bindings very easy. The Delta Pump ratchets on both the toe and ankle straps strap you in quickly and securely while easily letting you out even when wearing clumsy gloves or mitts. The Forma baseplate and Toe Accelerator provide support and control while absorbing vibrations.
At local competitions, Drakes were the bindings of choice by the majority of riders. I loved mine and had practically no problems with them. They were more than worth the retail price and I am expecting to get many more seasons out of them.
The one problem with them that I rarely encountered was that the nuts and bolts that secure the highback and heel straps to the ankle holder can loosen over a short period of time. This small problem is minor to the great benefits the bindings have to offer. The F-50’s definitely beat out the competition.
