Pros: Good straight ball with slight counterweight and barely a hook potential
Cons: chips and shows scratches
The Bottom Line: Throw this ball for a straight shot (mostly to pick up those nasty spares). Would not recommend this ball for a strike ball unless you're just starting out.

| gonja4000's Full Review: Ebonite Skull Bowling Ball |
As you have probably seen in other epinions in this category, they mention the movie "Mystery Men" because of the use of this ball as one of the "Super Heroin's" super powers. Well... This infact, isn't a real skull, and for you people out there who are terrified of sticking your fingers in eyeballs, well... Then this isn't the ball for YOU!
PROPS
Now in the movie "Mystery Men" (don't worry, I won't go in depth), Janean (can't spell her name, grr...) Garafolo was "The Bowlers" daughter, a former superhero who used a bowling ball to fight crime (As you can tell this is a comedy, cheap one, but a good one :) ). Well... "The Bowler" dies and the daughter (Janean) takes his skull to a proshop and has it put into a bowling ball and now the ball can hover and such... bla bla bla... Well.. that's just to show you how this ball is used in a cheaply manor of movie production! That's probably what made it blow up so much in the popularity majority!(that and it's pretty neato! :) )
WHO SHOULD USE THIS BALL?
Well... Anybody who leaves those nasty spares (splits or 10 pin, grrr...) or just anybody who throws a straight ball. There is a slight hook potential, but not much. There is a small weight in there to make it hook slightly, but barely any so it's very good ball for spares.
Also, anybody who likes those stylin "HIP" toys that people are always like, "wow that's cool, never seen that before", this is for you! Unless you don't like the skull then you can always go for one the the Ebonite balls that are in the same series as this one "Funky balls" is what I believe this series is to be called... not sure... sounds right though :)
LIKES
What I like about this ball is that it has the perfect hook potential to get my ball where I need it to go. It's SO incredibly easy to control that I have just used it as my main ball many a time! Of course I like to use those huge hooks so I'm throwing this ball way out of the way and I'm waiting for it to flare back at the pins and it just kind of goes in the gutter... But then I fix myself and it's all good :) Sometimes you have to watch where your arm's going, if you don't then you don't know where the ball's going to end up. If you bring your arm straight back and let the ball's momentum bring it straight forward, you should have a nice, straight ball that is easy to control. Now if you bring your arm way to the side and back then it's harder because you have to maneuver your arm back to where you want it before you release or you will be throwing the ball way off to the side!
I also love the skull (duh!) and the glass-like coating around the outside give it the look of being well.. in a glass type case that you're hitting something with. These past balls that try to look like these (they were first, but hey, this one deserves much more credit) were just like some plastic looking ball that looked like they tried to paint something on the inside to make it look "nifty" or "neato" like this one! :) It's quite nifty and the girls seem to think I'm manly for handling someone's head like that, grr! BASHING SKULLS INTO PINS, UGH UGH! haha (Caveman talk...)
DISLIKES
Now I know I've been drilling the skull in the ball as being so great blobidy bla, but it does have flaws. As you can obviously tell if you look at the ball (as in other epinions this is stated) the eye holes need more black paint to give it the depth feeling of the skull being hollowed out and all nice and ready to hit stuff with :) But it gives you the feeling of a cheaply made ball... (which it's not). Also, if you don't like the slight hook on it then you may not like it, but it's barely there so it's not really a big deal until you miss a pin by a hair and you blame it on the ball for hooking or something... but that's your fault, haha, you stink! :) j/k. But other than the skull being a little off coated this ball is excellent and very innovative! I'm just waiting for a ball with a remote control to come out of Ebonite!
