| dgmommy's Full Review: Eddie Bauer Booster Seat |
I'm pretty sure this is the seat I have....I didn't see any other Cosco Alpha Omega seats that had the 5 point harness listed for review.
When I decided to buy new car seats for my children I did extensive research on the topic. I finally decided on the Alpha Omega because...it got a good rating from consumer reports, it's the most versitile seat, and it basically looks really good. One other reason we got it...is kind of silly...but I wanted my car seats for my two kids (3 years and infant) in my van to match and this seat would do it.
I liked it because:
1. Very padded and comfortable. My daughter calls it her "comfy seat".
2. It works for rear facing infants to toddler to booster seat. So it will last a long time, hopefully!
3. It did excellent in the Consumer Reports findings (see cons for this topic too).
4. You never have to re-thread the straps, They move up and down in the back to adjust to your childs height.
5. The strap to adjust the 5 point harness is in the front so parents can easily tighten and loosen straps.
I don't like:
1. The straps twist mercilously. I am constantly having to untwist them.
2. The buckle across the chest it easy for a child to unbuckle...I solved that problem by buying a Century chest buckle and installing it on my seat. It works great!!!
3. Tether is a little cumbersome.
4. Seat is rather large. It fits great in my minivan, however, smaller cars may have problem with its fit. Especially in the rear facing position.
5. Consumer Reports does not recommend using this seat as a booster when the shoulder belt is needed.
6. Seat is very expensive...however, you do get a lot for your money.
7. Bottom buckle is a little tricky...almost like a puzzle. My daughter can't buckle her self in because she can't figure out how to work it. But, once you get used to it, it's a snap to buckle.
Overall, I think this is a great seat. The Consumer Reports regarding the booster aspect worried me a little, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I liked the seat so much I bought two of them and I'm not sorry!
