I've been using my Epson 1200U scanner for nearly a year now and could not be more happy with it. This is my third scanner and of the three I have owned, this is the best. I replaced a Hewlett-Packard scanner with this unit because the HP was twice the price but had imperfections in the glass that affected the scan quality.
I use the Epson 1200U with a USB connection to my Sony VAIO PC. Installation could not have been easier. Just run the software on the enclosed CD-ROM and then plug the scanner into a USB port. My computer has four USB devices connected to it and I have had no problems with conflicts, etc.
Scanning is straightforward and very easy to do. I scan from Photoshop 6.0 and it works very well. Pre-scan controls are easy to use and allow you to adjust the scan for maximum quality.
I've been very pleased with the quality of the scans. They are crisp and bright, with accurate color renditions. In addition, the scans are completed quickly.
I have nothing negative to say about this scanner. The Epson 1200U works the way the USB peripherals are supposed to work. Just plug it in and scan.
