A few years ago, I tried the Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refinisher and was blown away with the results I saw on my face with regular use. I've purchased it again a few times since because I inherited a genetic tendency toward having large pores, but not regularly since I honestly cannot afford $46 each and every month consistently. I do purchase it every now and then, though, as a treat to myself as my skin is looking even better now that I took a six month course of Accutane last year. Of course now I am really motivated to help my skin look as smooth and clear as possible as I'm sure not getting any younger! So when I saw an ideal offer of the Idealist as well as the newer Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-D Deep Thermal Refinisher on sale together for a whopping $72.00 (the Micro-D was actually FREE since the larger 1.7 ounce size of the Idealist normally sells for this price anyway), I finally broke down and bought this skin care duo as I'd been curious about the Micro-D for awhile as I had heard lots of great things about it. Each 2.5 ounce (75 ml) blue-green tube of this Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-D can be purchased at the Estee Lauder counter of your favorite fine department store or online at gloss.com for an expensive $45.00. I must say that the initial high price is what has kept me from trying this new skin care product for awhile now. But since I was able to buy a smaller 1 ounce (30 ml) tube of the Micro-D along with a 1.7 ounce bottle of the regular Idealist for one price of $72.00 for these two items combined, I decided the time had finally come to treat myself and give this a try. I've been working alot of overtime lately, so it was easy talk myself into making such a sinfully expensive online purchase recently since my skin deserves to be spoiled every now and then :-) My 1.7 ounce tube of this Deep Thermal Refinisher is just a smaller replica of the original 2.5 ounce size, and it features a twist-off lid on which the plastic, squeeze-type container rests upright upon. Picturing the black and gold Estee Lauder logo as well as both English and French directions for use, the attractive packaging matching that of it's partner-in-crime Idealist quite nicely. But since it only takes a small nickel sized amount to cover my entire face every time I use it, this Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-D Thermal Refinisher will no doubt last for several months, if not more. So like with more department store skin care products, you do end up getting what you pay for.
~~~My Experience~~~
Using this Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-D Thermal Refinisher is very simple. According to the directions for use: Cleanse skin. Apply a thin layer to damp face. Massage on with a gentle touch using circular motions. Avoid prolonged massaging in any one area. Rinse thoroughly. Use 1 to 2 times a week or as needed. Follow with Idealist Skin Refinisher. I learned very quickly that apply lots of pressure like when using regular scrub type products is a big NO-NO when applying Micro-D to the face!! On one area I definitely pressed too hard, and my cheek was reddened for several hours afterward the very first time I applied this product to my face. So using gentle pressure is the key. I started at my chin and worked my way up to my forehead, using circular motions all the way as directed. I place a small pea sized amount on my fingertips so that I can concentrate on one area of my face at a time. Of course there is no lather since this isn't meant to be a cleanser. The grit seems to absorb quickly though during the massage process and I can actually feel my skin getting smoother as I go along. There is an instant warm sensation as soon as this product comes in contact with the skin, but that is normal and not a sign of an allergic reaction. Once my entire face is covered, I take a warm wash cloth and gently remove any excess residue. Left a bid reddened at first, my face soon looks almost radiant and much smoother just a few minutes later. There is no tight feeling and a thin layer of Idealist goes on next. My pores appear much smaller as the top layer of dead skin has been massaged away. Of course this treatment is too harsh for every day use, but amazing results can be seen when this Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-D Thermal Refinisher is used every three to four days, even for those with sensitive skin types like myself. And now after several applications, I am still amazed every time this stuff touches my face!

While I usually like to try new skin care products for at least a month before giving a recommendation one way or the other, I just could not resist writing about this Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-D Thermal Refinisher after just two weeks of use. For I truly could tell a dramatic difference in how my facial skin looked and felt after the very first use. My skin appeared instantly firmer and was almost glowing after I wiped any excess residue away. Of course my pores were still there (nothing I've used is that good yet!), but they were easily smaller and less pronounced afterward. So while there's no doubt some positive results can be obtained when using this unique skin care product alone, following up with a thin layer of Idealist only makes the end results even more pronounced. Yes, it is very expensive, but sometimes you've just got to pamper yourself! So when you are ready to have smoother, younger looking skin with only a minimal amount of effort, then give this Estee Lauder Idealist Micro-D Thermal Refinisher a shot.
