| tbonyrony's Full Review: Falken Ziex ZE-512 Performance Tire |
I did a lot of research before buying a set of tires for my 2003 Maxima SE and I have to say I was disappointed with the quality levels for this tire. I went from replacing the stock Bridgestone Potenzas to this tire and have been experiencing a lot of pulling to the left. After getting an allignment, I still had the problem. I brought it back to Discount Tire and had them rotated and still experienced a little pull. They ordered another tire to replace the left front tire and after they installed it, I had even more pull to the left. It is probably a couple of tires on this set of tires that has bad tread. I am replacing all of the tires and putting on Yokohama Avid V4s. They are in the same price range and I have heard nothing but good reviews on this tire. I would have ordered them initially, but they were out of stock and I was convinced by one of their salespeople that the Falkens were just as good as the Yokohamas. Not true.
If anyone is looking for a new set of tires on a Maxima 2002 or 2003, the Yokohamas will probably be the best bet.
I am sure the Falkens are a good tire, and they felt smooth on the road, but it is hard for me to recommend a tire that has given me so much trouble.
Discount Tire retail is telling me that they have had a lot of issues with this tire, which is a different story from what the online Discount Tire was telling me.
Bottom line, shop a little more before deciding on this tire. Read reviews from websites like TireRack and talk to people who install tires.
Falken is a good budget tire, but I think quality is being sacrificed.
