| JediKermit's Full Review: Fisher Price Little People Noah's Animals B1507 |
We decided to start our year-old son Miles off with Fisher Price Little People the right waywith animals. Even after making that choice, we were confronted with other decisions: do we get the Farm (recently recalled), the Zoo, the Circus Train? How do we get the animals that WE want to play with? Then we saw the Fisher Price Little People Noahs Ark, and were in love.
About a month after getting the Ark, we decided to get the expansion packs of animals; because Noah saved more than eight animals. (more than fourteen too, but hey, this Ark isnt exactly fifty cubits long, ya know?) These animals are perfect for his little one-year old hands, and now were confronted with a new problem: what do all of these animals SAY ?
We all know a cow says moo, a pig says oink, a cat says meow, etc. But what
does a giraffe say? A rhino? A leopard? Weve solved some problems because we decided a giraffe makes a woop-woop-woop Three Stooges kinda noise, and a toucan says follow my nose! Then we made the problem even worse by adding six more animals into the mix with Noahs Animals Expansion Pack 2: Pandas, Alligators, and Hippos! And we dont know what ANY of them say!
Well come up with something, but for now, theyre variations of growls and grunts. Thats a minor problem to have when the toys are this great!
Perfectly sized and perfectly safe for little hands, these animals are all molded of durable plastic thats soft enough that it wont take your eye out like that Red Rider BB Gun. The males are slightly larger than the females, and are a darker color; the females also have a touch of rouge on their cheeks, which is rather striking on the Pandas, but disturbing with the Alligators.
Heres a rundown of the three pairs of animals:
The Alligators are the most similar of any of the animals, having distinct sculpts, but are very similar. The male is dark green and has more teeth exposed, and the female is a light green with a curlier tail. Theyre the longest of the animals Fisher Price has produced for the playset, and theyre some of my favorites.
The Pandas are probably the cuddliest in this group, and add some oriental flavor to the animals Noahs bringing on the voyage. Theyre exotic, theyre fun, theyre black and white, and theyre probably named Ling-Ling and Ding-Ding or something equally rhymey.
The Hippos didnt want to come on the three-hour-tour alone, so they brought traveling companions: each Hippo has a little red bird perched on its back, probably for hygienic reasons, but it just makes the chubby grey Hippos that much cuter.
Whether youre buying these for use with the Noahs Ark playset or just because theyre great toys, you wont be disappointed. Theyre great for playtime or bathtime, and will make your own little person very happy indeed. Especially if you play with them too.
