| denasalazar's Full Review: Fisher Price Step and Play Piano |
The Fisher-Price Step & Play Piano is a three in one baby to toddler entertainer. We purchased ours at Zany Brainy during their going out of business sale. It was originally $89.99, but it was 30% off making it only $62.99 pre-tax. What a steal! I have seen the Fisher-Price Step & Play Piano in the store many times, but have cringed at the high sticker price. With the discount, it was bearable. After using the product, I will admit that it is definitely worth purchasing at full price!
No tools are required for assembly, but it must require some part of the brain that myself and my husband do not possess. Assembly was a nightmare! It took us, working together, almost an hour and a half to put together. Yikes! It requires 3 C batteries, not included.
The Fisher-Price Step & Play Piano has three different modes for play that grow with baby.
Stage 1 - Baby sits in the padded 360 degree swivel seat, steps on the piano key base (there are 4 different keys) and can play with the different musical activities on the top on a stationary basis. There are such toys as a bell, spinning baby safe mirror, bead ball, and clacker.
Stage 2 - No adjustments need to be made to the Fisher-Price Step & Play Piano to use at this stage. As baby gets more steady on her feet, the seat slides to move back and forth along the entertainer, as well as spins as before.
Stage 3 - I have not yet used the entertainer in this stage yet, but to do so you remove the seat to create a toddler play area. At this point, my older daughter just plays alongside my younger daughter while standing.
The removable seat is machine washable a huge bonus! There is also a removable snack tray which I find to be invaluable. The Fisher-Price Step & Play Piano offers a two level volume control. The piano keys play either single notes, sound effects, or one of 10 different childrens songs.
The manufacturer recommends from 6 months+. I agree with the recommendation because of how tall the seat is. Even before that though I imagine that baby would be able to enjoy the upper toys, although unable to tap the piano keys on the bottom.
I wish that I were small enough to fit in the Step & Play Piano, because my daughter Madelyn has SOOOO much fun playing with it, I want to join her! :)
At 6 months old she is able to entertain herself quite well without me. But when I play WITH her using this toy? She enjoys it a million times more.
My 18 month old daughter Miranda loves to play with her sister and this toy as well. I look forward to converting it to the next level so that they can play together even better.
My only complaints are that it is rather large, so make sure you have room for it. It is difficult to move from room to room due to its size. Also, it was quite difficult to put together, and be prepared for that large price tag!
