| emptywishes's Full Review: Freeman Silk A Peel Cucumber Melon & Ginseng Facia... |
Remember those good old days in elementary school, where you would paint a thin layer of glue along your palm, wait a few minutes for it to dry, and then slowly peel it off. Remember the excitement when you would actually manage to get it all off in one, huge piece, complete with the markings from the creases of your palm?
Freeman's has captured that excitement, bottled it up, and is now marketing it as a face mask... for adults! Now you can once again have that glue-peeling enjoyment without the embarrassment! Hooray!
Before Silk A Peel, I was a facial mask virgin, and a little worried that not only would I end up peeling away impurities, but also half my face with it. Thankfully, those worries were unfounded. The directions are as simple as can be... simply apply evenly to the face avoiding the eye area, wait for it to dry, and remove. I crossed my fingers, but then realizing that would make applying the mask much more of a challenge, I uncrossed them, hoped for the best, and got to work.
Silk A Peel comes in a 6 oz, easy to squeeze tube with a twist-off lid. From there, you just squeeze into your hand, and spread it out on your face as evenly as possible. I suggest pulling your hair back beforehand, otherwise, you may end up looking like Teen Wolf as your hair sticks and then dries to the mask (not to mention you may have random mask pieces clinging on looking like huge chunks of dandruff for the rest of the day), but if you've done so, it's smooth sailing. Just sit and wait for the mask to dry (the package recommends five to ten minutes, but you can easily tell by touch... if it's still sticky, keep waiting).
The scent of this mask is a bit odd... with the cucumber and melon, I was expecting something fruity. Rather, it just smells "cool," like a refreshing breeze or something of the sort. However, while out of the tube it can smell a bit strongly, once it's on you'll barely notice it... there's just enough to smell clean, not enough to smell like your grandmother. Just grin and bear it (although don't grin too widely, or you may crack the mask).
When the drying is done, the fun can begin. Looking into the mirror, you'll certainly see some areas that look ready to come up (with me, the mask tends to start peeling off a bit by itself under my bottom lip). Start picking away where it seems easiest to you, and peel off long sheets of clear-colored mask. This process shouldn't take you more than a couple minutes. When you're done, just give your face a quick rinse to make sure you didn't miss any small pieces, and that's it!
Silk A Peel really does hit the nail on the head with the silk comparison... after peeling off the mask, my skin always feels softer and cleaner to the touch. Unfortunately, it often seems like in the nose area, it will get those blackheads up toward the top, yet doesn't quite pull them out, making them even more visible! If this isn't a problem area for you, then this product should suit your every need. And if you need a little more help, you can always double it up with something else (I use Nivea's pore strips to take care of the nose issue). For three dollars, either way you get your money's worth. Plus, you get to have all that fun peeling action! What are you waiting for? Pick this up today!
