| tiffer0220's Full Review: Funrise GI Joe Turbo Chopper - 19" Motorized Milit... |
With my kids being military enthusiasts, it only seemed fitting that the GI Joe Motorized Military Helicopter be added to their collection. Not only did the kids enjoy checking out their new chopper, but Mom and Dad had a blast playing with it also.
The GI Joe Motorized Military Chopper comes in a few different colors. There is the basic camouflage like the one pictured, a desert camouflage one and then theres just the army green chopper that we have. Whichever color you choose, they still do the same number of things.
If it's motorized, does that mean it really flies?
Everything you could think of has been included in GI Joe's chopper except for the motor and the action figure. Unfortunately it does not fly without the help of someone holding it up in the air and swaying it back and forth to simulate flying.
The chopper is about 19 inches long and about 6 inches in height. It's all made out of heavy plastic with the exception of the rotor which is made out of more flimsy plastic but that is because the rotor can fold inwards for storage. There are different buttons to activate the rotor and the sounds and the winch. There's also a cockpit that can open up and inside you can fit a 4 inch GI Joe.
The chopper does have a motorized rotor and with the push of a button, the rotor will start spinning on top of the chopper. When the 4 blades of the rotor are in operation mode, they measure outwards about 6 inches. The blades can fold inwards so that they look like they are just sitting on top of the chopper, this is so that you can store it away and not worry about the blades breaking off. It also has a rear rotor that you can spin manually but the rear rotor is located in between pieces of plastic, so there are no blades sticking out or anything.
The chopper had a motorized winch that you can lower and lift with a touch of a button. The winch has a nice size hook on it allowing you to pick up heavier things. The winch is just some black heavy string that is stored inside the chopper when the winch is not in use. It's connected to a piece of plastic that winds up the string. So far we never had a problem with the string getting tangled up or knotted.
There are also buttons on the chopper to activate the machine gun. The machine gun is located underneath the cockpit and when you push the button for it, the machine gun lights up and the machine gun sound effects kick in. There's also another button that will make the machine gun light up but it also makes noises as if the chopper is starting its engine and taking off.
On the sides of the chopper are rocket launchers that come with 4 plastic rockets. The rockets are very thin plastic pieces that are about 3 inches long. There are hooks that can hold the rockets in place or you can place them into the rocket launchers and shoot them out by hitting yet another button. When they are fired, they only travel about 2 inches before plunging to the ground.
The chopper sits on a basic helicopter base that has working wheels. So if the child just wants to push the chopper along he can since the wheels will roll the chopper along.
Finally, there is an on/off button located at the bottom of the chopper so that you can shut it off and not have to hear it going off by itself in the toy box if another toy happens to hit one of the buttons.
Overall Recommendations
Both of my boys love playing with the GI Joe Motorized Military Helicopter and it goes great with the G.I. Joe Attack Howitzer . This chopper would be a great addition for any children who are into GI Joe or the military and would be a great gift for adults too. If the rockets scare you or if you have a toddler who might try to eat them, they can be taken away. The rockets are the only hazard on the chopper. Everything else is is good to go.
Batteries
GI Joe Motorized Military Helicopter needs 4 AA batteries which are included.
