scoobysnack00's Full Review: Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Complexion Soap 4oz
There has long been a debate among produce officials on how a tomato should be labeled. I guess you could call a tomato the Rupaul of the produce world. Some people see it as a vegetable. Some people see it as a fruit, but no matter how people see it, they will always love it. Just like Rupaul, a tomato is very versatile. However, most people only see the tomato for its edible value. A tomato also has some healing qualities. Burts Bees uses these qualities in its Garden Tomato Complexion Soap.
Burts Bees Garden Tomato Complexion Soap
Since my early teens I have had issues with my skin. I have tried numerous face cleansers having really no luck with any of them. Most of them just dried my face out and did little to help my complexion. I hated these cleansers with harsh chemicals that after washing made my face feel tight, like I had just received a face-lift. I was looking for something natural but also effective for my problem skin. During one of my wifes frequent drugstore.com orders she picked me up a bar of Tomato Complexion Soap. That was approximately three years ago and I have been using it ever since.
The Product
Naturally acidic fresh dried tomato helps maintain the skin's pH balance while it gently cleanses oily conditions, refines enlarged pores, and provides soothing relief for troubled complexions.

The bar of soap looks like it has been molded from fresh pressed tomatoes with the scent to match. The scent took me a little while to get used to but now I love it. There is nothing better than the smell of ripe tomatoes when washing your face.
Price & Packaging
I used to purchase this at drugstore.com for $8 for the 4 oz. bar plus shipping. However, Longs started carrying Burts Bees products and now I can buy it there for the same price without the shipping costs. The Tomato Complexion Soap is the size of a normal bar of soap and is packaged in a normal sized soap box.
My Experience
I purchased this soap because I was looking for a good cleanser that wasnt too harsh for my face and I found it. The Tomato Complexion Soap is a daily fixture in my shower. However, it would be nice if they would make a pump version of this cleanser. I have to use a separate soap dish in the shower that takes up more room than a pump would. It also seems like the bar doesnt last as long as a bottled cleanser does. The bar is exposed to the water in the shower, which causes it to dissolve faster. I do like the lather of the bar but it takes a couple of good uses before it lathers really good.
As with most complexion cleansers I still deal with some dry skin after each use. I use a light moisturizer on the dry areas, which helps. I dont have the really tight feeling after each use as I did with the other cleansers. I also had to use really heavy moisturizers with the other cleansers, which did a number on my face. It was like adding fuel to the fire. Since using the Tomato Complexion Soap my face has cleared up whole lot. I still have problems here and there but I think that has more to do with heredity than which cleanser I am using. I would recommend this soap to anyone who is looking for an alternative to the heavy chemical cleansers they are using now. The combination of a natural cleanser that is also effective is a great one two punch.
