| Bryan_Carey's Full Review: Goose Island Oatmeal Stout |
Goose Island Brewery has produced another noteworthy beer product with its oatmeal stout. The first thing you will notice about this award- winning beer is its aroma of coffee and malt. This helps to set the stage for the flavor, which can be characterized as sweet, creamy, coffee- like, and with a hint of chocolate. The roasted malt taste is evident from start to finish.
This sweet style of stout would complement desserts like chocolate cake, eclairs, and brownies. There are not many beers like this. Most beers do not go well at all with dessert foods. But this type of stout would make the perfect match with these sweeter foods.
Oatmeal stouts are known for their smoothness, and Goose Island's is no exception. It goes down with ease, with no bite at all and almost no alcoholic taste, just the taste of rich malt. One could easily consume glass after glass of this beer. The only thing standing in your way will be its tendency to fill you up rather quickly. The alcohol level is moderate for a stout. It is only 5 percent by volume.
Goose Island Oatmeal Stout is a very good representative of its style. This beer won a Platinum award at the World Beer Championships, giving it the recognition that it deserves. I recommend it to the beer drinking novice as well as the seasoned beer drinking professional.
