cbgresh's Full Review: Graco Training Rewards Soft Seat Potty & Stepstool
The Graco Training Rewards Soft Seat Potty and Stepstool hereafter to be know as"The Potty" was not my first choice in potty seats...or so I thought. I wanted a Baby Bjorn potty seat because I liked the style and the various colors. I obviously forgot about functionality! The Baby Bjorn seat didn't work at all for us(see my review at:http://sazzysites.epinions.com/./kifm-review-611C-2BA859F3-399AB3EA-prod5) and produced a very stubborn, unhappy, potty training toddler.
"The Potty" came into view at a recent shopping trip to the Big K. I wasn't shopping for potty seats, but my daughter saw Elmo pajamas and basically dragged me in the direction of everything Elmo. A light beamed down from above and there was "The Potty". I thought it was a sign from above that I needed to buy this potty seat, but much to my dismay it was simply a blue light special taking place.
Now back to "The Potty"...........cushy for her tushy is the first thought that crosses my mind when I look at it. It has a wonderful padded seat that will not make a ring around her hiney no matter how long she sits and reads books. She has made an art out of potty perching and does it for 45 minutes at a time. The seat also detaches from the potty base and will fit on any standard toilet. This is especially helpful when training is almost or completely over and yet children have a fear of falling into the big toilet. The seat also has handles on the sides that allow children to get securely situated on the potty.
"The Potty" has a detachable deflector. This will safe guard your bathroom from bad aiming boys and not properly seated gals. I definitely like the fact that is detaches(see the Baby Bjorn review!). It can also be moved down when little boys do not need it and yet you do not want to detach it. The pot part of the potty is extra large and can hold a mornings worth of milk and juice deposits. The larger pot is helpful when emptying. Nothing worse than trying to empty a pot and you are splashing and sloshing all the way to the big toilet!
Rewards? You want rewards? Well Graco has got your rewards right here; right here in the box with the potty. The rewards are a set of stickers that can be place on either a chart that you design yourself or on the lid of "The Potty". I tried to put the stickers on the lid, but my daughter likes to remove them all the time and it messes up the look of the potty seat. I have made a simple chart and placed it on the wall in our bathroom. It gives her great joy to be given a sticker for going pee-pee or poopy in the potty. She slaps that sticker on the chart and wants to try again!
"The Potty" isn't just a potty seat/potty trainer, it's also a step stool. The lid flips down to reveal a large step stool that can be used as a step up to the sink to wash those little hands(good to also teach the little ones hygiene), a step up to see the snow falling outside or a step up to help Mom at the kitchen counter. The surface area of the step stool is mach larger than any of the actual steps stools I have seen on the market. There are also 4 rubber stoppers that can and should be placed onto the bottom edges of the stool to provide a good grip and will avoid slipping and sliding of the stool.
The Graco Training Rewards Soft Seat Potty and Step Stool has made our attempts at potty training go much smoother than expected. No, my daughter is not trained yet, but she sure enjoys sitting on her soft, stable, clean, comfortable, cool- colored sticker friendly potty seat. If you ask her she will say it's much better than that cold, hard plastic seat that I tried to get her to sit on just because it came in funky orange.
