| amydunn's Full Review: Gray's Papaya |
Believe it or not, one can fill up on $2.00 at this tiny hole located in numerous corners of NY. Yes, that's right - $2.00. Granted, all you will get is a big ol' bunch of hot dogs and a soda, but it's the perfect meal for students or...nah, I won't go there.
The last time I grabbed a juicy hot dog from Papaya, they had a Recession Special - how appropriate! They had interesting choices of drinks, slushees, but the line moved too fast for me to make a decision.
Luckily, one can inhale the food fast at this place because the temperature inside is smoldering. To add to the highly uncomfortable setting, there are no seats available for patrons. I feel awkward just standing there in front of the window with passerby's gawking (presumably eyeing the savory weiners on my paper plate).
Yep, they sure do skimp on ambiance and frills, but it's so worth it to have the food at such a low price. It brings tears to my eyes knowing that I don't have to rely on Ramen noodles everyday. *sniff, sniff*
People must go to Papaya's to experience an authentic piece of New York.
