Pros: Speed, speed, speed and speed.
Cons: No flash RAM (BIG minus).
The Bottom Line: Great for speed freaks :-).
But does not have Flash RAM, which makes the OS un-upgradeable.

| larsensimon's Full Review: Handspring Visor Platinum Handheld |
This is my second PDA. My first one was a Palm IIIx, which I had for about one year. But as any serius Palm (or any other PDA) user knows, your need tend to grow as you use your Palm.
My first need was to recieve e-mails on the go. So I went out and brougth a Nokia 6210 because of the built high-speed modem. BTW, it's a great phone.
And then I brougth the Mobile Internet Kit from Palm, and upgraded the Palm OS from 3.3 to 3.5 (which is requiered to use the wireless features).
But the OS 3.5 is clearly not written for the IIIx. The speed of swiching between program imidialy whent down. My Palm had become very slow.
So what to do next. I desided to buy a new PDA (God knows why), and started searching the market. What to choose?
The Palm Vx has the coolest look of the all, and even has built-in Flash RAM.
The Handspring Visor Platinum has a processor that runs 33 Mhz contra Vx 20 Mhz.
So you really have to list what you need before buying an expensive toy as a PDA is.
I went for the Platinum, only because of the speed issue. And I will never look back. It is so much faster at everything.
But if you're looking for your first Palm-powered (in my oppion you should only buy Palm-powered PDAs), you migth what to look at the cheaper ones, like Visor Deluxe or Palm IIIe/IIIxe.
If you're looking for your second (or 3rd, 4th...) then the Plantinum is worth your money.
