| dj_white_rice's Full Review: Hannspree MLB LA Angels Sandlot 15" 15 in. TV |
The Hannspree MLB Sandlot 15 Inch LCD TV was/is available for most if not all Major League Baseball teams. At this time since they were discontinued last year, your best bet on getting a new one is probably on eBay or Amazon.com.
The L.A. Angels version of this TV was the first one I ever owned. They originally were selling for $400.00 and up, but I had picked this one up at a Best Buy store as a demo model.
One of the unique things about this TV is that they feature actual team colors one the case, official MLB seal, large team logo on back of monitor and a small on the front of the monitor. Since these are official licensed products they stand to become collectors items.
What I like best
Video Production
This TV is perfect for standard definition video production for churches, schools, home studios, etc. on a budget but great image quality. It has a unique cable that is RCA/SVideo Standard for plugging into a DVD, DVR, or other video output source. It also has a standard rca female in jacks for standard video in. The quality of video combined with these to excellent audio/video in ports, make it a great LCD flat screen Standard Definition video monitor. I currently have two different Hannspree monitors that I am using on a video production cart.
Game System Monitor:
This monitor is great for using with a video game system that uses RCA ports. The picture quality is clear and sharp, vivid colors.
PC Monitor
This model of LCD monitor also has a independent VGA input cable and is a great desk monitor - especially for a office desk since on the back of the monitor is your favorite MLB team logo.
Switchable Video
One thing I appreciate about this TV monitor is a source button that rotates between your Computer, Audio/Video 1, Audio/Video 2 and TV. It is great. It lets me have my computer on, turn and watch the TV, then switch to perhaps a DVR or a video game system. Wonderful!
Password Protection
It has a children password log that lets you block channels, time and similar features.
Conclusion
I have owned four of this brand of TV now. My first and favorite one was this model of the L.A. Angels Logo version. I loved the red case and logo, unfortunately I had it on a shelf and somehow it got knocked forward and hit the LCD screen on the edge of the desk and damaged the LCD screen which is one disadvantage for this model which does not have a layered plastic or glass cover to protect the LCD Screen as some have.
I like the remote control which has the Major League Baseball logo and man pitching on a white background on the back of the remote.
Just so you realize how popular this model of monitor is, I sold the L.A. Angels monitor with the broken lcd screen and someone bought it.
I now own three more of these LCD tv, two are on a video production cart at church and another one is sitting in my closet.
The Bad
- Discontinued model
- LCD Screen is not covered to protect it.
- Wire pins inside of the PC to Monitor cable bend to easy.
- No HD, No Digital Tuner
- Only Standard video Inputs. (2 Video In)
- Will require a digital antenna converter after January 2009 - however, since most computers are still Standard Definition and because it can be used for game systems, a video deck etc. this is a minor set-back.
