Had these speakers for about 2-3 years, when we first got our Dell 8200 desktop running XP professional. I've since bought my partner a set of the H/K soundsticks, so I now use these with my laptop running XP home.
Whether using on the desktop or laptop the sound is very full, very rich. I have to turn the bass down, just as I have to do w/ the Soundsticks, these are really powerful.
My partner got the Soundsticks as a gift, but I really feel like I got the gift now that I'm using the champagne speakers. I'm really picky when it comes to sound and I absolutely love these things. I've seen them on overstock.com at times for pretty cheap. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone.
They're great for when you're sitting in front of your computer or if you're moving around the room doing stuff.
I've also used the volume controls on the speaker from time to time when I'm moving around and don't want to mess w/ the computer controls. It's nice having that extra option.
