This is the first time I've written a review for anything. I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth to the other reviewer's opinion. I agree with everything he says- the card does have good clean sound, and a decent software package. I just wanted to add that it hasn't so far deteriorated with age.
We needed another soundcard a couple of years ago for my son's machine because he needed an optical output for a sony musicdisc recorder. So I went down happily to our local computer store run by some nice young kids, thinking to get a soundblaster or something. But it turned out soundblasters were incompatible with his all-in-wonder card (that was a waste of money-but is another story). Anyway they jumped to it and offered a Musexl card second hand at 20,000lira (we live in Italy)about $10. I was doubtful, but of course they were right. According to them , Creative is ok but not the best for the money. The Muse is still going strong on my son's machine -he even records guitar on it now. My Soundblaster card bought new about the same time for my machine is causing trouble -it only works on one channel now, and I'm thinking of getting a Terratec DMX 1024(secondhand). I'll post a story on that when I get it. I can only add that my son is 15 now, a heavy metal fan and uses his computer as his stereo. It gets a lot of heavy work.
