e_commentor's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Deskjet D1341 InkJet Photo Printer
This printer was offered free when I purchased the Notebook at Staples. Although it was in the form of easy mail in rebate, I am hopeful that the mail in rebate will arrive in a month time .
The printer is small in size and weight. I will not take a large space and can potentially fit on the top of computer table.
Software
I was frustrated by the driver installation. They provide a CD which is supposed to install the driver. However, alongwith the driver, it installs a number of softwares most of them to promote their own product. It was frustrating experience waiting for the software to complete the installation. It took about half an hour. I did not know it before head, other wise I would have tried installing the software by making the Windows search for a suitable driver from the CD rather than running the CD itself. I would recommend anyone trying to install the software to try to search the suitable driver from CD rather than installing the driver by running the auto CD running.
Printer installation
The printer installation was very straightforward. Placing the cartridge was easy. However, when I tried to print my first test page, the page got stuck. I tried numerous time but without success. I had to return the printer for a replacement. The second one worked without problem.
Print Quality
The Print quality is impressive. The black and white quality was clear. The colors are crispy and clear. I have not printed any photo, but I will update my review,if I do print a photo.
Cartridge Life
I have just started printing few papers. I know that is a Deskjet and not a Laser printer and is not going to print thousands of pages. I will have an opportunity to report the number of pages it can print after a couple of month. As of now I am using it only for printing few pages at home, occasionally.
Conclusion
I took this printer with a purpose of some occasional printing. I think the printer is good for that. I will not recommend it for photo printing or large amount of printing. Also just check if you can get this printer with some deal.
