What a great little RV accessory! We upgraded from a no-bathroom pop up to a hybrid travel trailer. I researched holding tank maintenance and found that almost everyone recommended a Tornado. I however, thought I knew better, “We’re not going to eat out of it….” I told my wife.
After a year, and one hot Texas summer my tank sensor read full continuously and there was a bit of an odor. Ok, who am I kidding? I almost fell over when I flushed sometimes! In my defense I did flush by filling the tank with water and drano (as my RV’s manufacturer recommended). I finally decided to “try” the tornado.
Ok, this sucker is simple to install. Frankly if you are handy enough to have an RV you are probably handy enough to install it. You will need a 1/8’’ drill bit, a 1 1/4’’ hole saw/bit, silicone, and a screw driver. Other than the smell when you drill the large hole there’s not much to it.
I would recommend purchasing a transparent sewer fitting. I don’t particularly enjoy it, but it’s nice to see when the tank water runs clear with the Tornado on. You may also want to use a pressure regulator as well. We have used our Tornado once since I installed it. Two things happened immediately: the tank doesn’t smell and the gauges read EMPTY!
