three_ster's Full Review: Honeywell HFD-120 Air Purifier
Needing a new air purifier for the house, we purchased the Honeywell HFD-120 Air Purifier at our local Fred Meyer. It was a tad on the expensive side of things at almost $200.00, but it was well worth it for the results that we have been offered by this great air purifier. The Honeywell HFD-120 is a stand-alone air purifier that is ready to go right out of the box, and it comes with permanent filters that just take a rinsing to clean. In other words, when you purchase the HFD-120, you are getting a self containing air purifier that just needs cleaned every now and then, and which will work well for years to come. This Honeywell comes with a 5 year warranty, and after owning it for a while, we still haven't had to use the warranty for any reason. Still, it’s nice to know that it is there just in case anything ever does go wrong with our air purifier. As I have stated though, it has worked even better than expected thus far.
The Honeywell HFD-120 air purifier helps remove up to 99% of airborne particles, and seems to do a great job in our house. On the box, and in the pamphlet that comes with the air filter, it states that the Honeywell HFD-120 works on dust, pollen, mold spores, tobacco smoke, and pet dander just to name a few things that appear in the air. I have three cats, and have always had a mild cat allergy, so having an air purifier around that works well is a requirement for me. When it comes to the Honeywell HFD-120, I would have to say that it is an exemplary device when it comes to dealing with pet dander. The other main item that the Honeywell HFD-120 advertises is that it circulates and filters the air every 12 minutes in rooms measuring up to 12 feet by 14 feet. This has also turned out to be quite true, and it has been very efficient at cleaning up the air in our house. In the rooms where the Honeywell HFD-120 is used, you can't even see dust particles in the sunlight anymore.
The Honeywell HFD-120 works great at cleaning up the air, and woks much better than the ionic air purifiers that we have used in the past. It has really helped us with the air in our house, and it is almost unbelievable how well this little device is at doing its job. In height, the Honeywell HFD-120 is just a little taller than a typical house fan and comes in a nice black color that goes well with all of the rooms in the house. There HFD-120 works on three different speed settings, taking in the air from the back of the device, and pumping out the clean filtered air through the front of the air purifier. Increasing the speed with which the Honeywell HFD-120 works also increases the air-flow coming out the front, so if you don't want to create too much of a breeze, keep it on one of the lower settings. The higher settings just work to clear out the air in the room quicker, so it’s not like the lower settings don't work as well, just a tad bit slower.
There are so many great things that can be said about the Honeywell HFD-120 air purifier, ranging from how easy it is to clean the filter (just rinse with water), how easy it is to clean out a room through the air filter (about 12 minutes per cycle), and how easy it is to work the air filtration system. All that being said, it pales in comparison to the best attribute that the Honeywell HFD-120 air purifier has to offer. The best asset of this air purifier is that it is whisper silent when running. We have all heard of fans and air purifying devices that are supposed to work quietly, and most never live up to the billing, but with the Honeywell HFD-120, you get one of the quietest air purifiers you are ever going to use. It's quite remarkable, and basically the only sound coming from the Honeywell HFD-120 is the sound of the air coming through the device. This device can be used in a baby's room while they are sleeping, in the main room of a house, or simply in the bedroom as you sleep. It's just that quiet.
There aren't enough positive things that can be said about the Honeywell HFD-120 air purifier, and there hasn't been a single negative thing that has ever come up while using it. The air in the rooms where it is used has never been better, the pet dander is well under control, and it is like the device isn't even in the room with us while it is in use. The price of purchase was very affordable for what we have received in terms of performance, and we would certainly buy this air purifier again if we were put in that position. It's a highly recommended device for any house, and specifically for those homes where people with pet or pollen allergies are living. The Honeywell HFD-120 is designed to work 24-hours-a-day, so you don't have to worry about turning it off, and it barely uses any electricity while in use with its high Energy Star rating. If you are in the market for a new air purifier, or for the first one to be placed in your house, you aren't going to find one better than the Honeywell HFD-120.
