Pros: Good power handling, bright highs, clean crisp mid range
Cons: Big clunky crossover unit
The Bottom Line: For replacing the factory 3-1/2's in a GM car these are hard to beat.

| deltadude's Full Review: Infinity Kappa 32.1cf Car Speaker |
My 85 Olds Delta-88 has 3-1/2" speakers in the dash, pointing up, near the windshield. I replaced the factory speakers with these Infinity Kappa 32.3cf when I put in a new head unit.
The sound quality is excellent for such a small speaker. Bright, clear midrange and superb highs. The mid bass response is impressive considering their size. They're rated for 35 watts so I can pump them hard with my head unit's front channel without worry.
Installation was not trivial. The magnets on these bad boys barely fit in the holes in my dash, especially at the funky angle I have to install them at to make them fit by the windshield. Installing from a straight-on angle would be a lot easier (hope your car is like that). I even had to grind some of the metal dash attachment bracket down inside the hole on one side. The consequence of a speaker that handles good power is that the magnet is large. The sound you get is worth the hassle.
The next issue is with factory grilles.. the Kappa's tweeter sticks up a ways. I had to add spacers under the mounting ears to get the grille to clear the tweet.
These speakers have an external crossover network that wires in series with them. It's a plastic box about 1-1/2" X 3". There's no mounting provisions for it at all. I wrapped them with foam rubber and just stuffed them into the holes in the dash. Good thing there's room back there.
As I said, the sound quality is worth the hassle of installation.
