| dkreskai's Full Review: Interplak Family Electric Toothbrush 12153 |
I try to brush my teeth regularly twice a day and see the dentist twice a year. But I still have plaque build up every time I go to the dentist. I saw the displays at the local stores for electric toothbrushes and decided to give one a try.
I choose the Interplak toothbrush over the Braun or the sonic because the bristles on the Interplak spin on each set of bristles on the brush. The Braun has a set oscillating bristles set in a round pattern and the sonic uses vibration. I felt the Interplak gave you more brushing action on your teeth. After one try I was hooked on this toothbrush.
The interplak toothbrush comes equipped as follows:
A rechargeable toothbrush.
A charging base with two holders for two toothbrushes that can be wall mounted.
One full size toothbrush and one compact toothbrush.
A warranty card and a instruction manual.
It has a 2 minute timer, a no slip grip and a charging indicator light.
The recharger is great because you never need to worry about buying batteries. When your done using the toothbrush, put it back on the base and let it charge back up. My wife has likes to use the smaller round toothbrush and I like the full size, so two brushes come in handy for us. The no slip grip helps you from not dropping your toothbrush when it get wet. You might think that sounds weird, but you will get a lot of action from your toothbrush and toothpaste will run down your toothbrush as you brush. You will also learn to keep your mouth closed around your toothbrush as you brush because you will spray toothpaste out your mouth if you don't close your mouth.
Dentist's recommend you brush your teeth for 2 minutes and that's where the timer comes in handy. Until you use the timer, you never realize how short of time you were brushing before your electric toothbrush. After a few brushes you get accustomed to the 2 minutes of brushing. The instructions tell you not to push hard with the toothbrush, but to just rub it back and forth on your teeth. After a couple uses of the Interplak toothbrush, you will notice with your tongue how smooth your teeth feel. After just a couple months, my dentist said I had reduced the amount of plaque I normally had on my teeth.
My children have problems with cavities in their teeth, so I purchased a second unit for their bathroom. One toothbrush can work for a family, but I liked it so much, I wanted one for each bathroom. Having a choice of compact or full size is nice because my daughter and I like the full size and my son and wife like the compact toothbrush. I watch for online coupons to buy new brushes at some of the online retailers. You can get 2 full size with an extra compact brush for about $20.
The brushing action works so well, they recommend not using tarter control toothpaste. The reason they recommend that is because tarter control has a gritty texture and the grit will grind on the gears in the toothbrush head. It won't do anything to your toothbrush base, but it will prematurely wear your toothbrush head. I still use the tarter control and get about 4 or 5 months out of my toothbrush head instead of 6 like they recommend. You will notice a grinding sound of the gears and the bristles don't spin as well when your brush gets old. There are color coding bristles to let you know when to replace it, but you may wear out the gears first. The toothbrush heads twist on and off with the greatest ease. They come with a plastic cover so you don't get anything except toothpaste on your bristles. When buying replacement brush heads make sure you get the twist on heads for this type of Interplak toothbrush. Interplak makes a couple different styles of electric toothbrushes and they don't all take the same toothbrush head. I made that mistake the first time I order toothbrush heads online.
The only two problems with the Interplak Toothbrush is the price of your toothbrush replacements are a lot higher that manual toothbrushes. Seven to ten bucks a pop is not cheap, but for good dental hygiene, it's worth it. Your gums may get sore the first few times you use it and my son had some sores in his mouth. But after using it for a week you won't even notice it anymore. You need to make sure you are brushing your gums also, so to get rid of all the plaque and keep your gums healthy. They advertise getting rid of 90% of plaque on your teeth. If they can get close to 90%, it's worth it for me.
So try the Interplak rid your teeth of that nasty plaque.
