| bonniesayers's Full Review: Intex High-Output Air Pump - Double Quick III |
A few years ago when I spotted The Wet Set – Whale Ride On by Intex® at Rite-Aid I also picked up my first Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III to get the Whale blown up. If you are thinking about getting the Whale, read my review at http://www.epinions.com/kifm-review-4630-279FE1C-3918AFB0-prod2. The pump is red with the accompanying accordion hose black. The three nozzles are red and attached to the hose.
The Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III measures about 19 inches from the black handle to the red base, while the hose comes to 40 inches. The red base has a flat surface with the two holes for the hose to be inserted. The hole to the left has the arrow pointing up indicating this is for inflating. The hole on the right side has the arrow facing down to be used for deflating items. The handle is easy to twist off and pull out. There is a plastic ring divider with two other black tubes in this suction cup container.
In order to maneuver the hose to fit into the intended slot it is necessary to squeeze it just so and jimmy it into the hole. The nozzles are attached to the top part of the hose and need to be fastened before sticking it in the hole of the item needing to be inflated. What I do is position my feet between the base of the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III while my son holds the nozzle in place on the toy or product being pumped.
Since we tend to use the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III indoors for inflating I have used this barefoot and with shoes on with no problems. I have not seen any cautions to being without shoes when utilizing the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III. My younger son became fascinated with this and watched while it was being used. He liked the sounds from pumping and after seeing his brother use the pump I motioned for him to try it out.
The Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III was now deployed for pumping duty around the clock. I am not sure whether this helped with his sensory input/output, vestibular processing or proprioceptive input, but he has been pumping for a number of years now with no end in sight! Last summer while at KB Toys picking out a Jurassic Park 3 toy for my older son, I spotted a display of Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III. I picked this one up so I would be able to pump the items we have without taking away from my son’s activity.
The Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III my now five year-old uses gets unscrewed often and I can easily push the two pieces back together and twist it shut. Last week when I was at Toys “R” Us scanning items for my children’s gift registry I found a few in stock so placed this on that list as well. We have had a total of three of them now, which results in hoses being placed under couches.
The Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III is not available at amazon.com but lists for $11.99 or at KBkids.com for $12.99 as item#100434. There has been no set age limitation listed on the boxes our Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III was housed in. However it is listed here and at amazon for ages eighteen and up and over at KB Toys for ages nine. My children are always under adult supervision when using the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III. It seems to be therapeutic for my son and I have mentioned this to his therapists as well. I believe this helps with his motor coordination and might be building muscles as well!
The only concern is that my son leaves the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III in the middle of the living room floor and has on occasion stood on it while it is sideways and watched television. I would not recommend anyone do this but it has stood up to his extreme use. Besides The Wet Set – Whale Ride On by Intex® we used the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III for inflating a playball tent that had two openings for inflating.
Months ago I learned from parents in a sensory integration dysfunction group I am in of another Intex® product that is useful for children with this disability. I purchased from Kbkids.com the Intex® Jump-O-Lene. This measures approximately 82 inches fully inflated. It functions as an indoor/outdoor bouncing toy. I also ordered the Intex® balls that enhance this product. It is imperative to check each product to make sure they suggest using a high volume/low pressure pump before applying the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III.
Finally the last item I have utilized the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III was for an Intex® air bed that I found at Rite-Aid for under twenty dollars. For all of the products that I have used the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III I could easily change the hose to the deflating socket and release the air out of the item by pumping. However, the Intex® Jump-O-Lene is still standing upright in my living room getting used on a daily basis by my children. The Intex® Vinyl Air Bed has a deflation plug so I have not utilized this aspect of the product.
There are times when we become over zealous with our pumping and cause the hose to pop out of the socket. In just a minute it can be fixed and pumping can resume. The bottom part of the base once you turn it over has a black cover that appears to be secured by six slots secured into the portion of the pump. In the previous Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III my son used this came off after his repeated use and was disposed of when I found another Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III at Rite-Aid for about thirteen dollars. This product has saved us a number of times when it comes to inflating toys and pools. This would work well for rafts, air beds, lawn furniture and all other inflatable toys and items for families, especially for the summer season. I had no idea that this Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III would continue to fascinate my son over the course of two years. This is a life-saver and has amused many that have watched in amazement as my son pumps away. Last year when we had an appointment at the court house for mediation with the father I packed this up and it went merrily through the detector downtown without anyone questioning our motives for bringing this inside!
It works well on carpeted surfaces, lawn and kitchen flooring. I would suggest using both hands when pumping and hold the base with your feet for balance. We now know how many pumps it takes to get our items inflated, counting each upward move that takes under two seconds. There is no picture listed here but you can get an idea of what this is like by visiting http://www.epinions.com/kifm-Toys-All-Intex_Double_Quick_II_Hi_Output_Air_Pump.
The hose is accurate in this photo but the III is quite different from the II. Always be careful not to over inflate your items and seal the hole before the air gets out. The hose can easily wrap around the pump for storage purposes. We keep our extra hoses from past purchases of the Intex® Hi-Output Air Pump – Double Quick III under the couches since my kids like to play with them like they are snakes and tubes.
