I got the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer as a Christmas gift from my sister. She has had hers for some time and she is very happy with it, so she gave me one, too.
I started immediately with celery juice, which is good for reducing high blood pressure. The celery was easy to juice as were carrots and apples. When I tried to juice an orange, the result was not great. The texture of the orange juice was a bit strange, sort of foamy somehow, not clear. When I tried to do cabbage juice, things got very messy. Cabbage leaves got stuck in the juicer and very little juice came out. I suspect this machine will not work on soft fruit or vegetables.
The opening where the fruit and vegetables enter is the largest I have ever seen on any juicer. My old juicer that works on a very similar design had a rather small opening and I had to chop everything into small pieces before juicing it.
I like the container at the back where the pulp collects. My old juicer did not have this feature and so the pulp accumulates inside the juicer, making it impossible to make large quantities of juice before having to clean out the pulp. This juicer takes care of the pulp problem rather nicely.
The Jack Lalanne juicer is a very good design in terms of both function and style. However, it is a rather large object and it needs to be close to the sink for cleaning reasons. It does take up quite a lot of counter space. And it does have to be washed after every use. It has many moving parts that have to be removed for washing. I will keep using it to make celery juice and try to lower my cholesterol and blood pressure naturally before resorting to medicine. If for nothing else, this juicer is worth a try.
