Pros: Bright display. Many presets for your favorite radio stations. Cheap. Easy to use.
Cons: CD skips when you hit a bump. No brightness control. CD restarts when turned off.
The Bottom Line: Happy balance of good and bad. In use for 2.5 years. Got my money's worth out of it. Cheap radio on a budget or to upgrade to a CD player.

| teresad4's Full Review: Audiovox CD-3010 X Car CD Player |
My mom bought me a car. As elated as I was to actually have a vehicle that was mine, all mine - it had a cassette player. I finally wore her down to get me a CD player and she agreed to the "cheap" one that Best Buy had in stock.
That's where I landed myself with this little jewel of a radio.
It's a good unit for people who just want the radio playing and don't have to have the bass going and all that. The good thing is that it will play CD-Rs. It will not play CD-RWs. The sound quality is pretty good with my factory speakers. It does not have very good skip protection. Hit a bump in the road and you're left hanging for a second.
The remote that comes with it is a riot. It's great when your backseat driver wants control of the CD player. It's great for another reason too - more on that later. Bad part about the remote is that it isn't very durable. It comes with a cell-phone type holster with a clip to clip to your sun visor or whatever. I threw it away after the clip broke off. After a few hot days here in the South, the remote separated - the plastic part with buttons came apart from the circuit board. The battery clip also has become a hassle. I have to hold it in with my pinky while using it. The remote still works though.
The face of the CD player is one of the easiest I've seen to use. It has a bright blue display, which is good and bad. It provides a night light effect in your car, but it does not have any way to decrease the brightness.
I like the fact that it has a large mute button for drive thrus and cell phone calls.
It has 12 total presets for the AM band (6 on AM1 and AM2) as well as 18 for FM (6 on FM1, FM2 and FM3). I found this especially good as a college student where I had two sets of FM stations I liked in two different cities.
The CD player part of the radio is pretty standard. I really only used the random function. When you turn your car off and crank it back up later it restarts the track instead of continuing where it left off. This sucks for running errands.
The volume control also resets itself back to 12 when you turn the car off. Volume control ranges from 0 to 46. I listen to mine comfortably at around 20. So it got kind of annoying to have to turn it back up.
The face of the radio boasts "MP3 READY" - which would lead me to think it would play discs with MP3s on it. Not true. Turns out MP3 ready means you can use the AUX function to plug your MP3 player into it. I used this function a lot and I liked it. Just for kicks I hooked a cassette walkman up to it and it worked as well.
I've had the CDplayer for almost 3 years and to be nice I'll say it's had better days. One day I got in my car to come home and the volume buttons would not work. This is where the handy dandy little remote comes into play. That was about 5 months ago and the buttons on the CD player have slowly but surely stopped doing what they are supposed to. i.e. The volume button up currently turns the volume up as well as change from FM1 to FM2 to FM3 to AM1, ect. The volume down button displays the clock. It also has started to randomly play different radio stations. And on it's worst days it likes to turn the volume all the way up. Scraping ice from my windshields a few days ago I was treated to a very loud rendition of "Celebration" - which in retrospect made the scraping a bit more enjoyable. Listening to a CD is out of the question, insert CD and it flips back to the radio.
