Pros: crisp, clean sound, deep base, good dynamic response, very comfortable
Cons: None at this price
The Bottom Line: If you need a comfortable set of headphones for multimedia or portable audio use that deliver solid audio performance at a great price, look no further.
I was looking for a cheap set of headphones to use with my computer for music, gaming, and dvd's. I came across the Jensen JF20 at Best Buy, and since they were only $20, I decided to take a gamble with them. I wish I could be this lucky with the lottery.
I'm no audiophile, but I recognize good audio when I hear it. I try to look for neutral sounding speakers or headphones that have good dynamic response without overemphasizing or lacking highs, mids, or base. I have been pretty disappointed with most computer speaker systems because the sound is simply not 'musical' for my tastes. Quite honesty, the Jensen JF20 cans sound very clean and neutral to me. Highs and mids come out clear without any coloration or tinnyness. Base response is also pretty good, with deep base as opposed to boomy base. I can listen to several CD's in one setting without suffering listening fatigue. Imaging is also pretty good, as instruments in jazz and classical tracks can be localized clearly.
I have used this set of cans with a Soundblaster Live value, and more recently, a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. I use no equilizer or surround sound effects. I get great music quality from mp3's and CD's (I listen to rock, pop, alternative, jazz, classical) and solid performance with games and dvd's.
The headphones are also very comfortable. I can wear them for at least 3 hours before they start to hurt my ears (I wear glasses too). The sound is quite contained also. I can use them at a sufficiently loud volume without disturbing others around me.
I simply have no complaints about this system. I believe the mids and highs could use more detail, but at the price I paid, this is a very solid bargain.
I would also recommend the Koss TD61 in this price range. From what I can remember, the highs were a little too much emphasized, but sound quality is pretty good. The left speaker went out on me and I had to get the Jensen's
