Pros: IntelliSense Dirt Sensor, great suction, IntelliSense Dirt Sensor, HAPPA filter, IntelliSense Dirt Sensor!
Cons: No "Low Profile" to get under short tables, beds. Heavy, Accessory hose "wedges" onto connector.
The Bottom Line: If you want your rugs clean, this will do it, no doubt! And, unlike any others, it tells you when it's as clean as it's going to get!

| dank57's Full Review: Kenmore 36933 Bagless Upright Vacuum |
We've owned this for 6 months now. Previously, we've owned Kirby, Electrolux and we still have our Rainbow. I used to be a "Vacuum Salesman" and I know all the tricks they pull.
A little about us. We live in Las Vegas where the air is a bit dusty. We've lived in our house for 14 years, bought it new, original berber carpet throughout. We generally take our shoes off. Family of seven. Our kids vacuum the downstairs every Saturday. Upstairs gets it about once every 2 or 3 months. We have a professional cleaning twice a year downstairs and stairway. The rug downstairs will probably be replaced in four more years.
The biggest thing I love about this vacuum is the "Dirt Sensor". Before, we would always just run the vacuum over the rug and "think" we got it clean. With this, it "tells" you if the air coming in is clean or not. If you've ever watched kids (9 - 14) vacuum, you KNOW they're doing a bad job, because they want to get done fast. THIS VACUUM WON'T LET THEM DO A BAD JOB ANYMORE! I tell the kids, vacuum until it's all green everywhere. Then I showed them they have to go slow or it will continue to be amber or red if they don't.
I laugh every Saturday now because they complain, "I'll NEVER get done, I have to move it too slow!" It's also great because when it's green, you know you can move a bit faster and when it's red, you really have to slow down, almost to a complete stop. But then, after 10 seconds, it goes amber then green. So really, you know EXACTLY where to go slow and do a good job, and where you don't have to spend so much time. For example, my wife puts on powder in front of her sink where it's carpeted. When I first vacuumed there, it took almost 15 minutes before it went green. Now, I would NEVER have vacuum that long over that four square feet of space, EVER, because I didn't know I needed to. And that's the great thing about this vacuum! All this time, we had been going over that area, just the same as an area we almost never walk on, thinking it was OK. But powder is a vacuum killer! But now, I know how long I have to go over an area to get it clean, because the vacuum tells me how clean the rug is. (Technically, how clean the air coming out of the rug is.)
This vacuum would be ideal for a hotel house-cleaning supervisor to use. All (s)he has to do is take 20 seconds and vacuum a room to find out how well the housekeepers are doing. THE LIGHTS DO NOT LIE! I have tried tricking it and have checked it out thoroughly... THOSE LIGHTS ARE PERFECTLY RELIABLE! I have no vested or other interest in Sears or Kenmore. Who ever thought of this Dirt Sensor idea is a genius!!!
So, if you really want to know how bad your cleaning has been and you want to start doing it right, get this one! Yeah, the first time or two will take a long time, but after that, it goes pretty quickly... because now you have really removed all the junk that's been left there by the others. Not because they're bad machines necessarily, but because you didn't know where it was really bad and where it wasn't.
I would rather have this one function (Dirt Sensor) than any other function the other brands offer! This one has very good suction, great brush action, long cord, etc. My only complaints are that it is a bit heavy, and that along with the brush action makes pulling it backwards toward yourself a bit hard. Also, I wished there was a bit more weight distributed over the front and the suction along the perimeter was better. Maybe Kenmore can add a function that can be turned on/off that routes the suction to the perimeter so when you're going along a wall, it routes more suction to the edges. (You getting this Kenmore?!)
FYI, Use a wet-dry vac to clean the main filter and it'll work almost for ever!
OK kids, I can see it's still red! Keep cleaning!
