Pros: Cool looking, falls within the stated age range
Cons: Falls apart - unable to be played with
The Bottom Line: Don't buy it for a child that will actually want to play with it - find another Lego set that won't fall apart.

| lorimartinez's Full Review: LEGO Star Wars Tie Interceptor |
My eight year old son is very interested in Star Wars, and was thrilled to receive this classic Return of the Jedi set at Christmas from his big brother.
This set contains 212 pieces and is geared to ages 7 - 12. This set recreates the TIE Interceptor which was known as the fastest fighter in the Imperial fleet. A nice feature is that you can open the cockpit canopy and fold down the instrument panel to put the TIE pilot inside to recreate your favorite classic Star Wars battles. The set includes the TIE pilot.
My 8 year old required minimal help assembling the TIE fighter. When assembly was completed, the TIE fighter looked very cool.
The problem with this toy is that after it is assembled it is nearly impossible to play with in any sort of fun way. My son attempted to play with the TIE fighter, as well as the General Grievous starfighter, and was reduced to tears when both toys fell apart repeatedly. His father helped him reassemble them, thinking perhaps Andrew hadn't placed the pieces together tightly enough, but they both continued to fall apart.
He has played with the toy a few times since, and every time he's had to stop and assembly whatever falls off every few minutes. Very disappointing when one is trying to assist the Jedi in saving the universe.
The detail on the toy is nice - it's cool how the cockpit opens; however, it isn't worth playing with the toy if it will fall apart every time. This toy is really more of a display piece. The same is true of the other set my son received, the General Grievous Starfighter, about which I shall also write.
