Pros: Everything! It actually makes me excited about doing laundry. Cleans better, uses less water.
Cons: More expensive than top loaders and long cycles.
The Bottom Line: Great washer for anyone who wants energy and water efficiency. Must read manual, however, about drying door molding, leaving door open and cleaning lint trap.

I bought this after reviewing opinions on the internet and checking consumer reports. I have been very happy with it. The clothes are cleaner than I have ever seen. They seem to rinse multiple times during the cycle. I was always concerned with my old Kitchen Aid washer when I saw the water that came out of the final rinse thinking that was all the cleaner it was going to get. This washer has long cycles, but it is much quieter (I didn't really care about this but it's nice) and it washes much better. I haven't had it long enough to have problems with mold smell but you do need to read the manual if this is the first front loader. The door needs to be left open if you aren't going to wipe it dry after each load. Also, the molding around door is supposed to be dried often (I just use my hand to clean out any leftover lint in the door molding). There also is a lint screen and water draining tube at the bottom of the washer that also needs to be cleaned per the manual. If you try to open the lint trap without draining the water out first using the small tube the water will pour out onto the floor or carpet. Make sure to read the book before doing laundry. The many spin cycles are great, the ability to be able to thoroughly clean the cup that holds the liquid fabric softener-all this makes for a great machine. You have to make sure to add the detergent before or at the start of the cycle since the water runs though the detergent cup to get the detergent into the machine. It doesn't run automatically into the washer or get poured into the tub as in a top loader. The absence of a middle post is wonderful and dramatically increases the amount of clothes you can put in the washer. The clothes also come out of the washer much less wet than my top loader so the dryer doesn't take as long. I am still using my old (17 years) Kitchen Aid dryer since that didn't break.
The controls on the top are probably better than on the front since they can't be turned on by mistake by leaning on them or by children. Also, the controls on the top make it harder to knock items behind the washer.
The multiple cycles, the various spin speeds, wash temperature options are all great features that allow much more flexibility than with top loaders.
