| bops_mom's Full Review: LUSH Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar Personal Care |
In January 2008 I decided to place an order with Lush.com while they were having their end of the year, let's get rid of all our Holiday products, buy 1 get 1 or 2 for free deals. Prior to this I hadn't tried out any of the LUSH Holiday products so I was pretty much like a child in a toy store. One of the many items I got for free with my purchase was Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar. I actually ended up with 2 of these and having used one I can say I'm thrilled I still have one more to use.
About the product
Lush products can be found in a handful of Lush stores across the U.S.A. (and abroad) as well as online. While there is a Lush store just minutes from me, this time around as I said I went the online route. Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar is seasonal, so only available during the Holidays. I wish I could remember what it was priced at; I checked my order and I got both of mine as freebies so that's no help.
Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar easily fits into the palm of my hand, is coral/red in color and is similar in shape to a Hershey's Kiss. The scent to my nose is cinnamon with a soapy/clean underlying scent. Here's what Lush.com has to say about their product:
"Spicy lime and orange bubbles kiss you clean. A Christmas Kisses bath gives you spicy lime and orange-scented bubbles and a layer of froth keeps the water feeling nice and warm so there's no need to waste energy topping up with hot water. Keep a warming, soothing Christmas Kisses ready for when you've been out in the cold shoveling snowdrifts or doing last-minute shopping."
Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Cocoamide DEA, Clove Leaf Oil (Eugenia caryophyllus), Patchouli Oil (Pogostemon cablin), Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia), Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax benzoin), Cinnamon Leaf Oil (Cinnamomum cassia), Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Cinnamal, Coumarin, Eugenol, Limonene, Linalool, Perfume, D&C Red No.4, Cinnamon Quill (Cinnamomum cassia).
My Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar Experience
I'd been saving my Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar for a special time. Who am I kidding? In truth, I rarely even have time to take a bath so the first opportunity that I did (which was a good 4 weeks after receiving the product) I dove right in. What drew me into trying this bubble bar was the stick of cinnamon that was sticking out of it in the picture on LUSH's web site. I am all about cinnamon scents! I figured if it smells of citrus too well - that'd be interesting.
I ran a hot bath and crumbled in the entire Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar into it. I can tell you that one of these would easily do 2 baths and probably even 3 baths without skimping too much on bubbles, scent and color. My bubble bar did not have an entire cinnamon stick in it, but rather a pretty small piece, no matter - it had plenty of cinnamon smell! As the bath ran the water turned this coral red shade that was almost disturbing at first because it looked a heck of a lot like blood. The scent was cinnamon, with hints of clove and an almost musky powdery scent that was very clean. I did not detect even a slight hint of lime or orange and can't say I missed it. The smell was very warming and comforting. There were plenty of bubbles and when the bath turned cool and I had to get out I felt so warm and cozy.
That warm and cozy feeling stayed with me for close to 2 hours after my Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar bath. I was really surprised at how this bubble bar made my skin feel so warm. I felt warmed from the inside out. Not hot or overheated, just comforted and warm. It would be especially lovely to use this bubble bar on a chilly winter evening when it's difficult to get and stay warm. After my bath my skin was left feeling soft and smooth and had a slight cinnamon spice scent to it mixed with a heavier powdery clean soapy smell. It was not unpleasant but was most definitely noticeable.
I have pretty dry skin that can be hyper sensitive so the fact that this product has cinnamon in it did make me wonder how my skin would behave as cinnamon can be harsh to skin. I am pleased to write that I did not experience any problems from my use of this product.
I'll need to get more next year!
If you have the opportunity to try out Lush Christmas Kisses Bubble Bar I would recommend you do so unless you don't like cinnamon scents and or don't enjoy taking a bath. I really loved how my skin felt afterward, I really enjoyed feeling so warm and cozy and the scent was a delight. Too bad this is a seasonal item, though I can see why LUSH Has reserved it for Christmastime only.
