I had a $100 pair of altec's with micro drivers and something happened to the power cord and i could not fix it. I wanted something with a sub pretty cheap to replace them until i got 'em fixed. i bought these labtecs for $39 and I was amazed at what I heard!! The sattelites are so crisp and clear and the bass is pleasant and clear. It could be better, but for $40, what do you xpect? They are easy to set up and all wires is color coded. hooked up in literally 2 minutes I like that you can desk or wall mount the sattelites, but i experimented and found desk is better because the sound is directed towards your ears. in the speaker out jack on the computer, the sound is clearer and the bass bigger but it sounds more natural in the line level jack. The sound quality IS good overall. these speakers have small footprints and the subwoofer is quite small for it's bass. The sattelites have decent 2" drivers with small air ports in them. (by the way they have a headphone jack) The sub has a nice driver, too. looks like plastic coated with foam surrounding. (in english, made very good just not the best) for such a small system, its great. I just wish (as with my older labtecs) that you could control the bass output. Its OK though, still sounds great. Reccommened to anyone that doesnt want to spend too much for decent speakers or someone that doesnt need state of the art sound.
