As much as I love Calgon for my bath, when I am miserable from pain and discomfort due to a variety of itchy skin conditions; the first thing I cry out for it my Lanacane. I have tried a wide variety of anti-itch creams and ointments over the years and none have come close to providing the relief and piece of mind I get from the use of this product.
Lanacane can be used for a host of itching conditions brought on by dry cracked skin, bug bites or stings, poisonous plant contact (such as poison oak/ivy), or even prickly heat, sunburn, or allergies. All of these can create such a burning and uncontrollable itching sensation, the sufferer's first tendency is to scratch the area for temporary relief; but in doing so actually is causing more harm than good. That is why it is most important to have an itch relief remedy you can count on to calm and comfort to prevent such activity.
Lanacane provides all the necessary elements needed when fast itch relief is needed. The creme is enriched with therapeutic moisturizers (such as aloe), which help in keeping the area subtile and hydrated to promote healing. The soothing effect is almost instantaneous and I am immediately calmed, and become am no longer obsessed with the need to itch the area.
Lanacane has an anti-bacterial ingredient that is most important to help prevent the infection and kill any germs that may have come in contact with the area. Remember itching is the worst thing you can do. The germs under your fingernails are then transposed onto the skin, and with the warm environment is a perfect breeding ground for infection.
The main reason I use Lanacane is for relief from excessive dry itchy skin. The areas most sensitive on me are my elbows. They tend to crack in the summer, and make me want to climb the walls. At first I tried to use conventional lotions such as Jergens, or Vaseline Intensive care; both of which provided minimal and temporary relief. Often times, these lotions once absorbed made me want to itch the area more.
Finding a product such as Lanacane was heaven sent! After the initial application, it provides me hours of comfort and I forget about my dry itchy elbows all together. I have used this product as well on one occasion of when I was exposed to some Poison Ivy. Again, it worked wonders. I also take my Lanacane with me anytime I go to the mountains especially in warm weather. When the mosquitos are out and about, I make sure I am prepared with the best remedy that is offered to reduce the pain and itch and to free the bitten area from germs.
