Cons: Some boys might not like the fact that she's a girl or her lavendar color.
The Bottom Line: Rosie is a well built toy, and a fine addition to any Thomas collection. Her only drawback is that she's a girl, which some boys may not like.
brookelorren's Full Review: Learning Curve Toys Twr Engine Rosie
My little guy loves trains. For Christmas this year, he received a Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway Rosie engine. Rosie is a well-built toy that I would recommend for Thomas fans. In fact, since my son got a Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway toy on his birthday a few months ago, I have been impressed with the quality of all the Thomas and Friends wooden railway toys. I like Rosie a lot, and think she’s pretty cute.
Description
Rosie is mainly made out of wood and is about three inches long. She has a plastic face and wheels, metal axles, and magnets in the front and back. She is lavender colored with white, red, and gold trim. She has three sets of red wheels. ROSIE is printed on her underside in white lettering.
I think I like Rosie’s facial expression the best. There is a lot of detail in the design. She has freckles on her cheeks and nose, and large black pupils for her eyes. Her face is the same shape and size as Thomas's, but her nose, cheeks, eyebrows, and facial expression are sculpted differently. On the Thomas and Friends television show, Rosie is a young, sweet engine that looks up to the older engines, and especially likes Thomas. Her facial features have a more childlike quality than many of the other engines, and her smile makes her look a little shy and slightly nervous.
Fun Factor
Older boys may not like Rosie as well as some of the other engines because she's a girl, and many boys would rather play with boy engines. Her lavender color may not make her a favorite with the boys either. My two-year-old likes her a lot anyway. When he got two Thomas And Friends Engines for Christmas this year, he decided that he liked Rosie better than Diesel, and he went outside with her to play in the mud puddles. Of course, any serious Thomas fan would probably want to have all the Thomas engines.
Rosie has strong magnets in the front and back and attaches to all the other Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway engines. They are so easy to use, even my toddler can put a chain of engines together. The Thomas and Friends Wooden railway, including Rosie, is compatible with Brio engines and track as well.
Rosie, along with the other cars of the Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway, is fun for kids between toddler age and early elementary school. My little boy likes to carry his wooden engines around the house all the time, almost like a security blanket. My little girl, who is six, likes to have Thomas, Rosie, and Diesel have adventures and play with one another.
Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway Rosie is a good choice for die-hard Thomas fans, girl Thomas fans, and boys that are okay with Rosie being a girl. I like her a lot.
