If you look at all six figures in the Knights' Kingdom II series for 2006 each of them have their own unique persona. King Jayko looks royal and regal done up in metallics, Drascus looks like an old school warrior and Lord Vladek has a much more sinister appearance. The figures have some common things to them; they are all roughly ten inches tall, come with some type of a weapon and shield and all have an animal counterpart that they are associated with. The differences are the colors used for them, body armor accents, helmets, type of weapon they prefer and the specific animal that they are connected with. If you want to get them all you can expect to pay about $70.00 to $80.00 if you can find them locally; not a bad price for six great looking figures but you will pay more for King Jayko and Lord Vladek because they come with special pieces of weaponry.
Lego Knights' Kingdom II Sir Adric 8704
So you like the traditional look of a knight rather than one that has been modified or looks like he stepped out of a time warp from the future. If that's the case then Sir Adric is probably your best pick of the six in the 206 edition. He's done up in silver with red accents and if you want to give him a little extra kick in the pants, consider using Lord Vladek's sword with him instead of the silver battle axe that comes with the set. When you are building this set you really appreciate the design of it as well as the simplicity that it has but make no mistake about it, once you build it, it is going to take a lot to break him apart. Sir Adric and Sir Kentis has the same build design but there are slight differences to them in regards to color, weapons, helmet style and body armor.
Sir Adric is associated with the bull; they are both strong and have rather short tempers when provoked. The bull emblem on his shield is easy to identify but that is the only place that it appears. The King and Lord in this series has their animal counterparts not only on their shield but on their torso so they had a nicer look to them. Why are these lacking such a basic type of detail? Probably because such prestigious adornments are reserved for the upper echelon of the war party and to show that they have earned their place in the ranks. While Sir Adric and Sir Kentis might be considered mid level knights, they are still a step above Karzon and Drascus who are considered the grunts in this series.
If you've had any building experiences with Technic or Bionicle themed sets then you are going to love how these knights are designed. Because of the larger pieces you have a quicker build time but you can still customize them as you would regular Lego sets and they have a much more realistic look to them. Regular Lego figures are about two inches high, these beasts are ten inches or more. That doesn't make them more susceptible to tipping over or knocking over other figures thanks to their large feet pieces but if you add extra weapons to them or customize them, a little bit of poster putty will help keep them upright.
One of the things that I do love about Sir Adric is the helmet; you can still see his eyes and because of the slight lip over the eyelets it gives him a touch of darkness. The battle axe is impressive in size and if you want to add some clear or red studs to the center line of it you can. You won't be able to really appreciate the little touches that the designers gave him until you see him in person; the chips in the blade of the battle axe, the textured chain mail on his chest and his facial detail that is almost completely blocked by the helmet. He is easy to build and the step by step illustrated instructions allow younger kids to get in on the experience.
The 2006 series of knights in this collection are nice but you do need to know the set numbers in order to be able to get the exact one that you want. Some of the figures appeared in other formats in other years so it is easy to order the wrong item when you are going by name alone. Some of the figures are still sold in stores but for earlier ones you might have to order them online and that's where being an educated consumer comes into play. Here is the list of the 2006 Knights Kingdom II figures:
If you were shopping for this set in today's market you could expect to pay about ten dollars for him. The prices on the 2006 knights hasn't gone up that much and several retail stores still carry them. If you like the look of the knights and want to complete the set then paying a dollar or two more for one of the basic figures is ok but there's no way that these are worth more than $15.00 a pieces. Lord Vladek and King Jayko sold for $19.99 but only because they an with an extra mobile weapon and had some extra body adornments. Sadly, there are resellers that are trying to get $19.99 for all of the sets instead of just the Lord and King ones. If you are going to order online make sure that you are aware of the price differences as well as the different years that the various knights were released.
